$320 dollars later and we had a crazy weekend. VIP tickets aren't as great as we thought they would have been and we didn't get everything they promised in advance... but they were pretty legit.
Bamboozle 2010.
Alegria e determinação deram o tom da Mostra Vip Vila da Penha, que aconteceu no última sábado, dia 13, na Unidade Futuro Vip Vila da Penha. O tema era uma homenagem ao aniversário da nossa Cidade: Rio 450 em 360º. O evento começou às 13 horas com a apresentação dos trabalhos de cada turma divididos em estandes que se espalhavam pelos salões da Unidade. Cada estande com uma curiosidade sobre nossa Cidade Maravilhosa: tinha estande de comidas típicas, comidinhas de boteco, comidas de praia... Tinha para todos os gostos. Além de estendes que falavam cada um de uma região da Cidade e suas características. E os alunos, devidamente caracterizados, sempre prontos para dar a explicação do assunto abordado. Muito legal de ver a dedicação e empenho de cada um. Seguindo o evento, quando já chegava o fim da tarde, todos subiram a rampa da quadra para acompanhar a segunda parte do evento, os desfiles e apresentações de dança. Nesta parte do evento, luxuosamente comandado pelo diretor Marcelo, o 'malandro carioca', e a coordenadora Bebel, Carmem Miranda, os alunos começaram desfilando figuras típicas da cultura carioca, como: Cartola, Carlinhos de Jesus e Ana Botafogo, Carmem Miranda, Princesa Izabel e Zumbi dos Palmares, Cazuza... Vários tipos e épocas. Mas todos muito bem representados em fantasias e performances. Em seguida vieram as danças representando os ritmos cariocas, e nesta hora ninguém ficou parado... Samba, funk, black music, rock... Uma festa! Sem dúvida foi um dia inteiro de diversão, confraternização e, sobretudo conhecimento. Parabéns, Família Futuro Vip!

Both Boeing products but the VC-137C is actually a Boeing 707, whereas the ex USAF Turkish tanker is the military version of the earlier design, the Boeing 717, a somewhat different machine based on the original Dash-80, similar in appearance but with a narrower fuselage and shorter in length to the standard 707 'airliner' that the original four-engined concept was developed into.
VC-137 26000, c/n 18461 is the ex 'Air Force One' - relegated to VIP duties when the USAF acquired the current two VC-25 (Boeing 747) versions for Presidential use. She currently resides in the 'Presidential Collection' at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
The fin of the Turkish KC-135 also belies it's former USAF identity where with minimal alterations the original USAF serial is still present, if slightly modified, with the 'USAF' titles and fuselage 'Star-and-bar' being hastily replaced by the Turkish National Flag and roundel.
Note the 'prop' under the fin of the tanker - used to eradicate those 'embarrasing' moments when under certain loading conditions, the tail becomes too heavy!

The VIP Bus to Phuket (12 hour journey from Bangkok) is aptly named so.
It does make one feel like a VIP, they give you food, snacks, blankets and such, which was awesome.
The crew over at PVIP is bar none, some of the best people in the business. I had the pleasure of featuring the shop on Stancenation.

It is part of the buddhist tradition to dress certain statues in bib-like drapings. I don't know the details of this ritual, but I do know that whatever Japanese person did this one did NOT know what the Playboy symbol was or what VIP represents. This is QUITE the opposite of the tenants of Buddhism!
These were in a small wooden shrine along side the road with an unlocked sliding screen door that I opened just far enough to stick my camera through.
