It was a great thrill today to be introduced to two famous ladies: Calpernia Addams and Bianca Leigh.
Trans Scripts is a show taking place at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (among thousands of others). It tells of the true-life struggles and triumphs of six transgender women, so it seemed essential for me to see it. This picture is a selfie taken as we settled into the auditorium and just before I switched off my phone.
After the show I went down to the bar, where a man started a conversation with me about the play. He turned out to be the writer/producer Paul Lucas and gave me his card. At this moment one of the cast arrived - none other than Calpernia Addams! Paul introduced us and we continued talking about our reactions to the piece. Then Calpernia, seeing his card in my hand, asked if I was an actress. Hesitantly I admitted that I was trans too, at which Calpernia seemed surprised.
Paul had to move on, but he took me to another cast member, Bianca Leigh, whom you might remember as Mary Ellen in the film TransAmerica. We talked about the show, its relevance to my own experience, its development and the trans scene in Scotland. Calpernia remarked that on her first visit to Scotland she heard that everyone went South to London, but now girls seem to be staying here. Bianca asked how long ago I transitioned and my reply that I had not led to a long discussion about how far one could or should go.
After half an hour I had to leave, thinking I had taken enough of their time, but I walked back across town with a new bounce in my step because I had chatted with two such famous names.

Another one bites the dust. A grand old building, abandoned and taken over by buddleia and what the elements can throw at it. How long before the developers move in and bulldoze it to the ground and replace it with a glass and steel monstrosity ...

This workshop was built in 1869 as a sail-makers’ and ship-chandlers’ warehouse. It was occupied by Caird & Rayner from 1889 to 1972 and was never substantially altered, so the building retains its original cast-iron window frames and two double loading doors that open on to the Limehouse Cut. Caird & Rayner were engineers and coppersmiths who specialized in the design and manufacture of seawater distilling plant for supplying boilers and drinking water on Royal Navy vessels and Cunard liners.
The building is the only original sail-makers’ and ship-chandlers’ warehouse surviving in Tower Hamlets. A few years ago a housing association attempted to demolish this building to build flats and even attempted to overturn the listed status of the property but this was blocked by English Heritage. The derelict shops and small business units at the side/back have now finally been demolished to make way for a large housing development and Corals the bookmankers next door is also being demolished soon as part of that development.
After various changes of ownership in recent years there are no immediate plans for 777 Commercial Road which remain vacant apart from some live in security and some very ferocious guard-dogs. This building is very dangerous and it has some surprises for intruders.
A few times I’ve seen this Isuzu visit the Rockdale transfer station and park between two hook-lift containers used for cardboard. Seeing the livery on the side of all the bottles I assumed this truck collected mixed bottles and containers from wheelie bins beside these hook containers. Well the other day I witnessed a bloke enthusiastically chucking a variety of plastic containers into the body of the truck and emptying 240Ls with that lifter on the side. I thought he might have been sorting out different products into the back and loading others into a separate compartment... turns out all I got right was that he was dealing with plastic containers. After approaching the extremely friendly driver and querying what he does, I found out he travels all around NSW and interstate collecting used oil and chemical containers. It turns out he visits most waste management facilities all over the place from small local council tips to large privately owned sites. Basically what happens with this truck is bins are emptied at the front like a normal side loader, with contents gradually falling down into a Trethewey baler, which squashes the containers into approx 130kg blocks and then he’s got a small crane in the truck which allows him to stack the complete bales in the back. Judging by the signage I was expecting this truck was run by Visy and yes it is, although not the recycling division, rather Visy Industrial Packaging (VIP). The large RotaGrab lifter is what caught my attention previously, so I was very curious to learn about this collection truck. It was pretty cool hearing about this guy’s job too - obviously he goes everywhere and sees everything!

NO biggie! Follow these simple instructions: Right Click and Edit, then Sit.
Once you're sitting go to the Textures Tab in Edit and change transparency to 100%. Poses Gone!
This works on anything that's modifiable by the way.
To make them visible again, if you can't find them, type ctrl+alt+T
And type the same thing again to make all the red outlines go away 😁 Hope this helps!

A VIP special on the UP Belvidere Sub apparently to announce the rerouting of the Amtrak Black Hawk from on the CNRR Freeport Sub, to the Metra Milwaukee West line to Big Timber where a new interchange track will route the Amtrak trains onto the UPRR Belvidere Sub to Rockford. Here the VIP Train is going under the Canadian Pacific tracks just about 1.5 miles West of where the interchange between the Belvidere Sub and the Metra/CP tracks will be built. This train stopped at the Big Timber Metra station for no reason to me at the time, but after reading the announcement later in the day it seems they stopped there to show where the new rail connection would be built. This connection might also help to get a extension of Metra to Huntley built also

These glossy black slopes were just begging to be made into a limousine. Originally this was four studs wide but it looked too narrow. The change to three studs in the center was a challenge, especially for the front grille, which still needs some work I think.
For the shape I was inspired by streamlined cars like the classic Lincoln Zephyr, but with VTOL.
I think this is approximately microfig scale, so the statues in the backdrop are life size :) ... In case you're wondering, this was photographed on a large sheet of paper, draped over a chair next to a north facing window. Nothing fancy.
