Kåkbrinken is the name of this small street in Stockholm Old Town (Gamla stan). The name is first attested in 1477. 'Brink' is not a word really used today, but mostly survives in names. It means a short slope. 'Kåk' is used today, it is slang for 'house' - and Kåken ('the kåk') actually means prison. But that was not what it meant back in the 15th century, then it meant pillory. This street was named after the pillory found on the square at one end of this street. But it is safe to say that most Swedes today would not know that is the case! (I myself, and I've studied history, found out when I read up on the name.)
I used to work with painting on glass, china, paper... I meant a creative job was always important to me.
In this new phase I feel the necessity of find some details to add to my photos. I'm discovering how amused is work with Photoshop, despite of doing only some things with it until now. So, sorry for the montages with questionable taste.
I used to be angry at my friend Doug for skipping rocks in Moraine Lake on an unreal day... I'm starting to change my mind on the subject haha. September 30th of last year remains one of my most memorable days for moments captured like this.

Song: Mercy, Mercy, Me (The Ecology)
Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north and south and east
Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh Jesus, yeah, mercy, mercy me, ah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Radiation underground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Hey, mercy, mercy me, oh
Hey, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na, na, na
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, ooh, woo

Clarke Quay Singapore used to be godowns along Singapore River where boats delivered their goods here to be stored in the 19th century. Today it has been conserved, redeveloped and transformed into a place for dining, pubs and bars which attract tourists and locals.

Golden Bridge - Puente Dorado
The bridges have their origins in the prehistory. Possibly the first bridge of the story was a tree a prehistoric man who used to connect the two banks of a river. They also used stone slabs to small streams where there were no trees nearby. The following bridges bows were made of logs or planks and eventually stones, using a simple bracket and placing cross beams. Most of these early bridges were very poorly constructed and seldom bear heavy loads.
Using texture and painting on a photo of dusk from last evenings sunset. This was shot just after a storm came through leaving a layer of fog in the meadow.

As it used to look before it collapsed in March 2017, it was my favourite place in the world to take photos and I still miss it.

I think most of you know of my forays into the neighbors' yards to shoot their flowers. Well, today I wanted dandelion seedheads, so, with bucket in hand, I walked for several blocks, and picked off the seedheads off the dandelions from peoples' yards. I'm sure they would be happy about that, right?
Then you can imagine how long it took me to stuff them into six bottles. All for a shot :)
Shot in my lightbox.

Used to store water in Istanbul during Roman times. It was built by Roman Emperor Theodosius II between 428 and 443 to store water supplied by the Valens Aqueduct. Now it is used for art exhibitions.

Snowflake used to love to sit in the window and watch the snowflakes falling. I made this creation for my grand daughter Lydia that adored her and when Snowflake went to kitty heaven I got a silver frame and put this picture in it for her to remember her by.
Thank you all for the visit, kind remarks and invites, they are very much appreciated! 💝 I may reply to only a few comments due to my restricted time spent at the computer.

This use to be the entrance to someones property probably 50 years ago or so..:) It's now the outdoor patio for a restaurant/bar. I'm happy they left this standing. I'm probably imaging a better house that use to be there than what was.I'm thinking a cozy rock, farmhouse style house..;) but, probably not..;)
Happy Weekend
I just got the tail end of the storm. Lots of lightning and thunder. The house shook a few times and we got a lot of rain. we're all good and no damage

A Chiffchaff taking off

It's impossible to recover a movement blur with a sharpening filter : a sharpening filter will only add noise in this case but it will never recover details.
TOPAZ AI SHARPEN includes a new function called STABILIZE that is different from a simple sharpening filter. It tries to find a movement on the photo and to cancel it. That's why sometimes there are small artifacts on the opposite side of the movement, but it is really easy to deal with them with GIMP or photoshop.
To conclude : this tool deserves a try as it is free for 30 days.
It is very usefull for animals in movement (birds in flight, animals running ...), but it can manage movement of the photographer too.

For a change, this is a new (outside!) photo, taken just a few days ago at the wonderful Britzer Garten, one of Berlin's biggest and most beautiful public parks (please check my album for more "Britz bliss", if you like).
For better dynamic range, I've used exposure bracketing (three images), pre-processed the images in DXO PhotoLab (sharpness and DeepPrime denoising only), from which I directly went into HDR Efex Pro to combine the images. I'm trying to get away from the annual Adobe subscription, and combining images from an exposure bracketing series in HDR Efex instead of Lightroom is one step into that direction. Unfortunately, whenever I think I can finally leave Adobe behind for good they come up with improvements such as the new "supersize" function (now also available in LR), a ton of new presets for LR, and other interesting stuff (and I'm still used to the LR/PS workflow, and the layers in PS). Well, maybe I'll be ready next year ;)
Extra sliding was done in Color Efex, where I added some "Brilliance and Warmth" and a tiny bit of "Contrast Color Range".
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe and have a nice week ahead!

We used today to dive into the history of the Danish West Coast visiting the Tirpitz Museum in Blavand as well as the open air museum of Nymindegab. I can highly recommend both locations for people who love to learn more about the life of our ancestors in previous centuries. Nymindegab, Jylland, Denmark

For this picture I used an old, more or less acquired lens. It is a „Auto Beriflex 135 mm 1:2.8“ with M42 connector. "Beriflex" was a brand name of the Berlin company Beroflex AG. A system camera can be connected with a suitable adapter.
