Uranus, which is seen as a tiny blue spot at the bottom and left of the moon was going to be hidden. At 20h 34 min, local time, when the total lunar eclipse was at the final stage. In Nagoya, Japan. Explored on Nov 11, 2022.

Rainfall just before eclipse, but fortunately I can see some between clouds :)
雨雲の間から何とか撮れました。Bloodmoonが撮れないと皆既月食の意味がないですね。
The lowest recorded temperature at Uranus' tropopause is 49 K (−224.2 °C), making Uranus the coldest planet in the Solar System.
My Uranus is an ice sphere ! :-)
Moral of the story: No matter how attractive Uranus is, don't get too close.
"How beautiful!" we thought, as we approached Uranus,
"So colorful, perfect, and unique!"
"How idyllic," we both pondered as we gazed upon the clouds, "This is like a dream."
Then, as more clouds gathered and we got closer, we smelled Uranus.
The clouds are litterally made out of pee and poop (ammonia and methane).
On to the next planet!
Thank you for the kind favs and comments! The clouds we very iyllic during sunset on Navarre Beach at this time. Thankfully, all I smelled was the wonderful salty air. lol
Bonus joke about Uranus:What do toilet paper and the starship Enterprise have in common?
The both circle Uranus looking for Klingons. :D

My selfless devotion to rooting out the truth about the invasion of Earth from beings from another planet has once again been justified as I have no doubt that I've discovered their landing ships turned living quarters that they dwell in as they adapt to our atmosphere and gravity. These 'comfort stations' found on Coney Island will surely be appearing in heavily populated areas near you. Keep on the lookout and notify your local S.I.M.P.L.E. (Space Invaders Monitoring and Protective League Entente) should you encounter these sinister structures or anything with these strange alien markings. I'm going in for a closer look, if you don't hear back from me it's been swell kids.
HSS! :-)
There was almost 100% cloud for the entire duration of the total lunar eclipse last night, but I did get this quick shot of planet Uranus next to the eclipsed Moon through a small gap in the cloud.
An image of the planet Uranus and 5 of its satellites. Uranus is presently in the constellation of Aries.
This image of the distant ice giant was captured on the 17th January 2022. The planet was over 18.5AU from earth - or over 18.5 times the mean distance of between the earth and sun!
I was happy to pick up the five major satellites of Uranus including, for the first time, faint Miranda. This satellite has a radius of only 235-240km and orbits closest to Uranus. Titania is the largest satellite and Oberon, the second most massive, orbits furthest out.
Also nice to resolve (north) polar brightening on the planet. This lightening is believed to be due the absorption of UV light from the sun causing changes in atmospheric methane gas. Northern summer solstice will occur in 2028 with that pole facing directly towards us.
The planet's axial rotation is approximately parallel with the plane of the solar system so the planet appears "over on its side" with the satellites rotating around it.
The planet takes 84 years to complete one orbit...
Imaged with a Celestron C11 and a ZWO 290MM camera fitted with a Baader 685nm IR pass filter. The image is a composite of two exposures. A correct stacked exposure for the planet and a second overexposed stacked image to capture the satellites.
Uranus is false coloured.
In Greek mythology, Phoebe is one of the original Titans, the daughter of Uranus and Gaia. The word itself means bright and radiant. So what does this have to do with how the eastern phoebe and its kin got their name? Absolutely nothing.
Instead, the name comes from the call these birds make: FEE-BEE. Unromantic, but descriptively accurate. Sort of like the killdeer, which in no way is capable of killing anything the size of a deer but makes the sound KILL-DEER.
Scientifically, the eastern phoebe is known as Sayornis phoebe, and is a member of Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatcher family. It's the largest and most diverse bird families in the world, with members found in almost all of the Western Hemisphere.
Eastern phoebes are mostly migratory birds, breeding during the summer in Canada's far north and most of the eastern United States, traveling south into Florida, Mexico and parts of the Caribbean to spend the winter. They are found year-round in the Southeast north of Florida; in recent decades there have been a few eastern phoebes found nesting in Florida as far south as Everglades National Park.
Most, however, arrive here in September and October, and return north in March and April.
I found this one along Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County, Florida.
When Uranus Fell into the Sea the Water started Foaming ...
“I will sing of stately Aphrodite, gold-crowned
and beautiful, whose dominion is the
walled cities of all sea-set Cyprus.
The moist breath of the western wind wafted her
over the waves of the loud-moaning sea in soft foam.” ~Homer
Hesiod's Theogony
Hesiod’s description says that at first the waves gently
carried Her toward Cythera but Zephyrus, the western wind, ultimately guided the waves to the shores of Paphos,Cyprus.
This beautiful location came to be designated as
the birthplace of Aphrodite and Cyprus is called the Island of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, Beauty ...
Cyprus April 2016 ~ Best large, you might see Aphrodite emerging ...

The Birth of Aphrodite
In the beginning, Chaos wrapped the worlds
where Time and Space rolled without limit,
until the Earth indulged her sons, the Titans,
and gave them suck at her abundant breasts.
They pitched; the Styx covered the waves.
And never, after, in the dark lightning air,
did Spring let out the splendor of the sun,
nor generous Summer ripen the pale corn.
Sullen, and ignorant of all lark or laughter,
the Immortals assemble on snowy Olympus.
But out of heaven come the seminal drops,
and the Ocean slips open, and naked, radiant,
now, and rising out of the foam’s embrace
and the Sky’s blood, she blossoms: Aphrodite.

This is the totally eclipsed Moon of November 8, 2022 set in the stars of Aries, with the planet Uranus nearby, visible as the greenish star about three Moon diameters away from the Moon at the 10 o'clock position. Uranus was at oppostion the next night, November 9, at magnitude 5.6.
I shot the set of images for this scene at about 3:28 a.m. MST, about 20 minutes after the start of this long totality, so the right (lunar eastern) limb of the Moon was still fairly bright. The field of view is about 7.6° by 5°.
This is a blend of four exposures to compress the dynamic range and record the stars while maintaining the Moon more as the eye saw it. I blended a 5-second exposure at ISO 1600 for the stars, with 1-, 2-, and 5-second exposures at ISO 200 for the lunar disk, all with the Canon Ra on the SharpStar 61mm EDPH refractor with the Reducer/Flattener for f/4.6. The scope and camera were on the Star Adventurer tracker, turning at the sidereal rate for the long exposure for the stars but at the slower lunar rate for the shorter, lower ISO exposures for the Moon. Blending was with old-fashioned manual masking, not HDR routines or even luminosity masks.
It was -25° C this night, and with several inches of snow having just fallen that day, so I kept the gear complexity to a minimum. However, using a 280mm focal length scope on the tracker was pushing it. Most long exposures for the starfield were trailed. I shot several sets of "HDR" exposures to be sure I got one that worked.
On the evening of 2022-11-08 I successfully observed and photographed the total Lunar eclipse from the capital of Japan.
This eclipse had a once-in-a-lifetime speciality as during the event the Moon was conjugating with planet Uranus. And by viewing it in East-Asia, the Moon passed in front of the planet, so there was a Uranus-eclipse by the eclipsed Moon.
The photos were taken in every 15 minutes.

Late last night, I took the Dog's for a walk, and was looking up at one of the most amazing night skies I have seen in Many months. Canyonlands is about as far from civilization as you can get, and also sits at around 6000 ft elevation, so the air is thin and clear. The Milky Way was streaking across the sky so brightly. I've been wanting to try this for months, I figured it was the perfect time. Last year, I tried this with my 50mm f1.4 lens, so I only saw a small part of the sky. This time I put on my 15mm fisheye, so I could see practically the entire sky. Aimed the camera straight up. F-stop wide open. Here's what I got!
I love this camera!
ISO - 1000
Exposure - 1 minute
Aperture - f2.8
This one really MUST be...

Pretty thick paper, 180 lb, love perforation, never was attracted to this idea before, but it is so comfortable. I used Bijou watercolor and Uranus pen. This sketchbook is a perfect companion on the trip. Love it.
What an insanely disappointing COP. It blows my mind that it is sponsored and run by the fossil fuel giants and the worst criminals and contributors to the climate crisis. What a farce. And then they herded the protestors out the door and closed it behind them. Shameful and detrimental to human kind.

When I first started delving into this collection I tried to find pictures of Sailor Moon chopsticks on the internet and there just wasn't any... now I have a "Pro" account at Flickr (simple enough to be called "Pro" by just ponying up money like most do...) because I have so many pictures. Not just Chopsticks though. :)
These are better pictures that hopefully showcase the cute designs of the various versions better.
Of course in this series is just the Sailormoon chopsticks and not the other anime ones I have.
These aren't just for eating food. They make very cute and stylish hair accessories.
More hair accessories here.
More Chopsticks here.

All these (and more) need new homes as I'm going to a different country for an extended stay soon so send me a Flickr Mail message (access through the arrow that appears near my profile photo when mousing over it) if interested.
