Updated information as of April 3, 2014 - My photo from a recent January 2014 photoshoot of the abandoned crane - now I know as a " drag-line excavator" in Clinton River Park.. a short walk from the Dodge Park bridge. Of what I could find out from local Sterling Heights historian - Doug Harvey, it has been here since the late 1950s or early 1960s. It was originally owned William Malow, who had at some time in the 1950s sold it to Jo Trevor. Malow Jr High school is named after Mr Malow, who operated an excavating business - digging ditches for local farmers and excavating basements for new houses. This is right off the Mountain Bike trail. Just to the right. I'm not sure what that structure is to the left. The dragline's Ford V8 - 85 hp engine was nearby at one time, but has since gone missing.

Guys, I'm SO sorry for my lack of uploading! There is a reason for it though, if you follow me on instagram or facebook you've probably read it already. I've been sick and I overused my wrist. So I'm taking meds and need lots of rest.. So don't expect any uploads soon. :(
I'm using a disposable film camera right now, because my dslr is too heavy to hold for me right now. And I'm also still really busy with the assignments for the admission to the art school that I'm attending to. So my attention goes fully to recovering and the art school admission. Meh.
I FINALLY got the house cleaned and snapped some photos of the most recent updates. You can see where we moved the table into the kitchen here which works fine as long as we only use 3 chairs. Still no upper cupboards, but I keep them well organized.
You can also see our newest family member- our lab/shepherd mix- Tango laying in the kitchen.

I've updated a few paragraphs here and there to reflect my current running total of uploads (520-530 and counting!), total combined views (15,000 since January 2010!), and of course, the gradual increasing number of pictures of myself. Can you believe at the beginning of this year I was afraid of showing my face on here? I can't believe how courageous I've become! I appreciate all the encouragement I've received so far.
In any case, I've updated where it's needed it, reflecting my current frame of mind and status of my photos on here, and of course, heartfelt thanks to all my friends, contacts, and admirers. I may not have hundreds, or thousands (And frankly, I'd rather have a few that care and interact, rather than many that just favorite and don't say anything.) but I'm happy for those who have added me, or have acknowledged my feedback on their pictures.
I've said it before, and I'll gladly say it as many times as I need to -- Flickr saved my life. Prior to last year, I didn't even exist on here, except solely in boy-mode, and then just photos of places and events I've been to. I found out about the TG community on here by accident, and got involved. In a way, it served to re-awaken something in me I kept hidden for so many years, out of shame and fear.
I'd like to once again thank the handful of people I've talked to for helping me get closer to the closet door. Someday very soon, if not already, I will make my way out of it, and forge a new path for myself. Thanks, once again!
As another way of saying "Thanks," I've drafted up something I'm still in the midst of hammering out. I'm still revising here and there, but I've adapted it into the "About Me" section of my blog site.
Piercings: None currently. (Planning to get ears pierced, one hole in each lobe, that’s about it. Maybe eventually my navel.)
Tattoos: None. (Never felt the need, plus they’d look all weird if I gained or lost any serious amount of weight. Besides, I’d have to decide on something I’d want to have for more or less the rest of my life, or spend $$ to get rid of it.)
Padding: Breasts only currently. (Stockings packed with birdseed route, hoping to get some decent breast forms eventually.)
Fingernails: Yes, I’ve grown my own out, and got away with it for the most part in boy-mode. Trimmed only when needed. I’ve been lax in keeping clear coat polish on them as of late, and they’ve frayed a bit.
Eyebrows: Still working on them, may need to actually have someone work with them. Mind you, I’m still a “part time” girl, so I don’t want to make it too obvious.
Body Hair: I shave or use depillatory lotion on a regular basis. Fortunately what I do have is very light. (Some on the chest, none on the back, lower legs, upper arms.) I kind of lucked out in that genetic area.
Makeup: I'm proud to say that I do my own. I've learned on my own, by seeing how others do it here and elsewhere, and thanks to encouragement from Bree Scott, I picked up my own copy of Kevyn Aucoin's "Making Faces" ^_^;
Personal Photo Policies:
* I don’t want to see pictures of anyone else’s “junk”, especially what doesn’t belong on a real girl. If I need to look at one, I’ll look at my own, thank you. ^_-;
* My photos of myself do not include any digital enhancements, save for the occasional fogging out of background (Such as a series of photos in my room, which, I admit, is an ongoing disaster area. ^_^;) – However, I do not enhance myself, save for any makeup. ^_^;
* I generally won’t do any headless shots. I took a leap of faith, and I’m confident enough to show myself off, save for the occasional early photo, or any that concentrates on a particular feature of my body or clothes that I like. My first few public photos were before I worked up the nerve to show my face online. So far, I haven’t had any harassment.
* About 95% of my photos on Flickr are public. I keep some of the more risque photos (Me in nothing but lingerie, or some more risque requests for friends, or some of my more experimental “fantasy” photos) filtered and flagged appropriately. I’d like to keep this Flickr account for a long, long while.
* Comments are appreciated, especially if you’re adding me, or favoriting my pictures. Feedback is important to me.
* I have a certain set of factors that determines where I add someone back. Not everyone who adds me gets added back. (Hint: See above.)
* I don’t care if guys add me. I’m cool with that, I’m trying to get used to a couple of people out there who have been flirting with me. As I stated in my profile, I like women. Technically, that means I’m straight when I’m in boy-mode, and when I’m Julie Anne, I’m a trans-lesbian. ^_^; I don’t want to go to bed with you. That’s not why I’m online here and on Flickr. ^_^;
* Deletions to my photos are very rare. If I didn’t want people to see it, I wouldn’t post it up.
* No guarantees on how long I will keep this photostream up. I’m sure, in time, when I find out what I want, I’ll figure out what I want to do. I do know that for those of us who go all the way into going full-time, eventually, in order to successfully pass, you have to become “invisible” – That may mean going into “deep stealth”, more or less cutting off ties with your past. For now, I’m a “part time” girl, and I may be for quite some time.
* Insults, rudeness, and general hate are ABSOLUTELY not tolerated. I have had to block at least one person over the past few months. Fortunately, I’ve been flying under the radar, so I really haven’t had to wield the ban-hammer too often.
* Criticism welcome, as long as it’s creative, and polite. Posts of a “You urgently needs a therapy” or similar nature, with the intent to humiliate me or shame me, because I’m not slim, or I don’t pass convincingly, will most likely earn you a permanent block.
* Any comments clearly hateful or insulting will be treated as a hate crime, and will be reported as such. You don’t want to go there with me.
* It’s a personal thing with me, but 95% of the time, I will use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. I like writing, I was better in English than just about anything else (except computers) in school and college. ^_^; There are times, however, when I’ll indulge the “omg” and “lol” side of me. ^_^;
* I have nothing but admiration for most of those who have been here longer than me. Sometimes I may be inspired to do my own spin on something I’ve seen. Inspiration strikes when I least expect it.
* I’m still trying to build up my confidence in commenting or adding other people. I’d rather have a handful of close friends I talk to on a somewhat regular basis, than thousands of contacts who just come here for the “pretty” (heh heh) pictures, or just to see what I do next.
* … That doesn’t mean I won’t keep pushing the boundaries. This is a lifelong journey, and I’m going to have as much fun as I can along the way.

One of the most recognizable buildings in Salem is the former East Church, now occupied by the Salem Witch Museum. The East Church was constructed between 1844 and 1846 for the oldest branch of the First Church of Salem, which originally organized in 1718. The stunning Gothic Revival church has been credited to architect Minard Lafever (1798-1854), a prominent New York architect known for his Gothic, Greek and other Exotic Revival style buildings. Constructed of brownstone, a material Lafever utilized for his New York City churches built at the same time, the East Church exhibited pointed arch stained glass windows, crenellation resembling battlements, and once featured two, four-stage octagonal towers, which were cut down in the 1920s to their current height. The church suffered from a massive fire in the early 20th century and the church eventually moved out in the 1950s. The building was occupied by the Salem Auto Museum until another fire in 1969. In 1972, the Salem Witch Museum moved in and completely updated the interior.
UPDATED INFORMATION - NOVEMBER 2023
This report has been prepared by Chris Borough, Graham Nicholson and Philip Pope
This photograph, taken on or around 30th November 1954, shows the Norfolk Whaler, known locally as the Santa Cruz, ready to depart under her own power across the bar at Tuncurry before being towed to Ballina by the s.s. Bonalbo. The launch alongside the Santa Cruz is the Endeavour I; the Bonalbo can be seen out to sea in the far distance.
Another photo of the Endeavour I is in the Album ENDEAVOUR I
Other images of the Santa Cruz are in the Album NORFOLK WHALER/SANTA CRUZ
The Norfolk Whaler / Santa Cruz is anchored in the entrance to Cape Hawke Harbour with her bow pointing seaward on a run in tide and the Forster breakwater on her starboard side.
Tethered to her port side is the fishing vessel Endeavour I with, more than likely, the pilot station launch Wallis on her stern.
To the far left bottom corner of the photo is the fishing vessel Eldorado II standing by. The man standing on the deck of the Eldorado II has been identified as a Nicholson, either Laurie or John.
The Santa Cruz was towed to this site from the Wright's shipyard by the fishing boat Irene III.
In the background, on the horizon, is a yet to be identified large vessel, more than likely awaiting to have the Santa Cruz handed over to be towed to Ballina.
Endeavour I
The 42ft Endeavour I was built on the Tuncurry foreshore by Alec Sutherland, Moore Hoy and Max Nicholson; she was launched in 1945.
She was owned by Max and Moore, replacing the Endeavour, which was bought by the Commonwealth Government in 1943. After the Endeavour I was sold, she was renamed the Irene I but remained and worked from the port.
Eldorado II
The 53ft Eldorado II, was also built on the Tuncurry foreshore by Jimmy Nicholson and his two sons Laurie & John. Launched in June 1946 the Eldorado II replaced the Eldorado and remained in the Nicholson family, working from the port for over 30 years before being sold.
More images of the Eldorado II are in the Album ELDORADO II
Wallis
The vessel tethered to the stern of the Endeavour I is more than likely the Pilot Station's launch Wallis.

Norfolk Whaler (Santa Cruz)
This information has been updated – October 2022 based on further information
The twin screw Norfolk Whaler (known in Tuncurry at Santa Cruz) was built at the shipyards of Ernest Wright and Sons in Tuncurry, NSW. Construction was commenced in 1946, the same year that shipyard manager Ernest Wright died.
After Ernest’s death, work was supervised by Arthur Wedlock (Manager) and Frank Avery (Foreman); John Wright jnr. took over the business after his return from WWII. A very impressive vessel, Frank Avery described her keel as follows: She has a piece of 12x12 iron bark, 75ft. long, in the keel. Like the kelson, stem and apron it was squared with axe and adze”. Newcastle Morning Herald 17 May 1947
Launch – 16th September 1954
Progress was in stages over an eight-year period and it was not until 16th September 1954 that she was launched. Elizabeth Wedlock, daughter of Arthur Wedlock and great grand-daughter of the late John Wright who had, in 1877 [1875?], established the shipbuilding industry in Tuncurry, launched her. She announced I LAUNCH THIS SHIP. MAY GOD BE WITH HER AND ALL WHO SAIL IN HER. As she spoke these words, she, "grasped the bottle of champagne swinging from the bow by the tartan ribbon of 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' and with all the assurance and grace of youth, broke the bottle against the gleaming wooden vessel poised on the slips". [Dungog Chronicle- Saturday 2 October 1954]
Although known locally as the Santa Cruz, there was not one mention in any of the many reports of the newly launched vessel’s name. Frank Avery in 1947, had indicated that she was owned by a Queenslander while the owner was later reported as F.E. Crouch [SMH - Saturday 18 September 1954]]. In addition, there are no press reports of a vessel of the name Santa Cruz and there is no record in the Register of British Shipping of that name.
Towed to Ballina
On the 17th September The Santa Cruz - Norfolk Whaler was towed out of the channel by the launch IRENE III and then taken by the steamer Bonalbo to Ballina on instructions from her owner S. G. White Pty Ltd. but it took four years until 14th November 1958 before she was registered to North Coast Whaling Pty Ltd., 20 Grosvenor St., Sydney, with the name Norfolk Whaler.
Details
Name: Norfolk Whaler (local name Santa Cruz, later ARCTURUS
Builder: Ernest Wright & Sons
O/N: Official Number: 199178
Registered 15/1958 Sydney (14th November 1958)
Length: 119.95 ft
Breadth: 22.6 ft
Depth: 10.15 ft
Tonnage: n.b. 1 shipping ton = 100 cubic feet)
-Gross: 217.47 tons (615.44 cubic metres)
Net (Register): 91.43 tons (258.75 cubic metres)
The supervising naval architect was Arthur N. Swinfield A.M.I.N.A.
Owners
The early ownership of the vessel known locally as the Santa Cruz is not well understood. It appears that she was initially commissioned to be built as a luxury tourist craft for a Mr. F.E. Crouch. Over the long term of construction (1946 – 1954) it would appear that the hull was purchased by S. G. White Pty Ltd (Sydney based firm that had a facility undertaking shipbuilding and ship repairs at Ballina) as a potential tuna vessel and was taken to Ballina after launch in 1954. “Lying at Tuncurry uncompleted is a 128 ft. ship (Figure 1, lower) which could make a fine sea-going tuna clipper. She has a beam of 22 ft. 6 ins., moulded depth of 10ft. 9 ins. and 2½ inch planking. This ship was begun for a former owner, by E. Wright & Co., of Tuncurry, as a luxury tourist craft for the Barrier Reef, but is now owned by S. G. White Pty. Ltd., Sydney shipbuilders and repairers. Plans prepared by Mr. Arthur Swinfield, Sydney naval architect, provide for five refrigerated wells on each side of the vessel, with a total capacity of 100 tons, and three bait tanks aft with a combined capacity of 30 tons. Accommodation provides for a crew of fourteen.”
Fisheries news-letter Vol. 13 No. 2 (February 1954)
Fitted out at Ballina
Over the period 1954 – 1958 she was fitted out at Ballina and at some time sold to North Coast Whaling Pty Ltd. In 1956 Diesel engines (6cyl. General Motors Corp) driving twin screws were fitted. During the first half of 1957, she was fitted out as a whaler under the supervision of Jim Hammond (Alan Wright, Great Lakes Historical Society, personal communication) and undertook her first sea trials in June 1957 [smh 19 June 1957]
Whaling at Ballina/Byron Bay
The story of whaling at Ballina/Byron Bay is quite complex; the whaling station was located at Byron Bay while the whaling vessels used from 1957 on were apparently leased from North Coast Whaling Pty Ltd, Ballina.
The Byron Whaling Company had its origins in 1951 when a group of Inverell businessmen tried to float a public company - Byron Whaling Company Ltd. The float, however, was under-subscribed and investors’ monies were repaid. 1953 a private company Byron Whaling Co. Pty. Ltd. was formed and the company started construction of whaling facilities at Byron Bay in May 1954 and secured a licence to harvest an annual quota of 120 humpback whales. In July 1954, Anderson Meat Industries Ltd. acquired Byron Whaling Co. Pty. Ltd.; the first whale was captured in the same month. Byron Whaling Co. Pty. Ltd. operated two Fairmile cruisers as chasers, Byrond I and Byrond II. The whaling quota was increased to 150 whales per year after the first year of operation.
In 1955, a whaling station was also constructed on Norfolk Island at Cascade Bay by the Norfolk Island Whaling Co., a trading name of Byron Whaling Co. Pty Ltd. The Cascade Bay whaling station commenced operation in 1956. In the same year, Anderson Meat Industries Ltd. sold the two entities, Byron Whaling Co. Pty Ltd and Norfolk Island Whaling Co. to the newly listed public company Norfolk Island and Byron Bay Whaling Co. Ltd.
Around the same time North Coast Whaling Pty Ltd acquired the Santa Cruz, and registered her as Norfolk Whaler (1958), she was reported to have been involved in whaling at Norfolk Island from mid-1957 on, presumably under lease to the Norfolk Island and Byron Bay Whaling Co. Ltd. She was assisted by two 30ft whale spotters, Kingston Whaler and Cascade Whaler; both vessel were built at Ballina by the S. G. White Pty Ltd Ballina Slipway and Engineering (Alan Wright, Great Lakes Museum, personal communication).
End of Whaling at Byron Bay
Her career as a whaler ceased in 1962 when only two whales were caught. The company that had apparently leased her, the Norfolk Island and Byron Bay Whaling Co. Limited, went into liquidation and was de-listed on 7th Jan 1963. North Coast Whaling Pty Ltd. sold Norfolk Whaler back to S.G. White Pty Ltd on 3rd February 1964
In 1965 the Minister for Territories announced that the Australian Government had purchased the Norfolk Whaler and renamed her Arcturus. She was refitted at Ballina as she was intended to be used to train Papua New Guinean merchant seamen. A Certificate of Survey dated October 1965 indicated that the modifications increased the tonnage and the registration details were amended as follows.
Gross tons: 234.72 tons (664.26 cubic metres)
Net tons: 103.91 tons (294.07 cubic metres)
Norfolk Whaler employed as Survey Ship - 1964
Before the purchase to the Minister for Territories was finalised, S. G. White had leased the Norfolk Whaler for survey work. Her initial deployment was at Port Headland, Western Australia - departing Ballina on the 19th January 1964. Her role was to survey a channel for the 4000-ton ore ships which intend to work that area. After operating in Port Headland she was dispatched to Groote Eylandt and finally returned to Ballina in August 1964.
The Australian Register was closed on 13th December 1965.
Sold to the Administration - Territory of Papua New Guinea - renamed Arcturus
The arrangement for the purchase involved some refurbishment to better suit the vessel's new role a training ship. She was sold to the Administration of the Territory of Papua and New Guinea for £90,000 arriving at Port Moresby in January 1966. She was then assigned to the Papua New Guinea Register and assigned the number 5256018. Arcturus 1966
Arcturus - Rabaul
The Arcturus was initially based in Rabaul where she was registered but it appears that she was not initially used for the purpose intended and received minimal maintenance.
Chief Officer of Arcturus claims wreck of Dai Maru for TPNG Administration

Training ship for Nautical College
Sometime in 1969 the Arcturus was moved to Napa Napa (near Port Moresby) ready for the first students at the Nautical College to commence training in early 1970. During this period the Arcturus was refurbished and she had her engines replaced with Gardner 6L3 diesel engines.
Nautical training moved to Madang
After drawn out negotiations between the Education Department the Department of Transport, the Arcturus was relocated to Madang to provide the training ship for the new Nautical College at Madang in 1972.
Arcturus involved in WW2 bomb disposal.
"A naval clearance team is removing hundreds of wartime bombs from the seabed off the Lae Yacht Club.
The bombs are obstructing the main approach to the club's anchorages. They were dumped into the sea after the war ended. The bombs were only discovered late last year when an R.A.N. patrol boat ran aground on the pile.
The RA.N.'s Naval Clearance Diving Team 1, operating from the MV Arcturus began clearing the bombs last week. They completed the task on Monday." Papua New Guinea Post-Courier Wed 14 Jun 1972
Arcturus based at Nautical Training Institute
For a long period in the 1970s she was tied up at the PNG Maritime Department wharf in Madang harbour. She was offered for sale in the late 1970s
Final Days in Madang
The Arcturus remained an important component in the Training Institute but, in late 1970’s, she was deemed to be no longer of use and was advertised for sale at Madang as follows:
“Offers are invited on an "as is where is" basis for the following:
Motor vessel M.V. Arcturus wood training vessel formerly Norfolk Whaler built 1954.
Length 36M, Breadth 6M, Gross tonnage 236 tons. Engine 6L3 Gardner.
The successful tenderer must remove vessel from mooring within one month from
date of advice.
Hull to be destroyed after removal of machinery and fittings.
The vessel may be inspected, at the Nautical Training Institute”
Papua New Guinea Post-Courier Fri 13 Jul 1979 Page 53
It has been reported that the engines, which were reconditioned and installed as auxiliary engines in one of the Lutheran Shipping's company’s vessels, are still running today. [David Faithful – Madang, Nov 2013]
With the recent information available courtesy of Trove and the Fisheries Newsletter the secret of her early career is now revealed and the ultimate fate of the last ship built by the Wright shipyard at Tuncurry has at last be solved.

In history, the Portuguese explorers discovered and called the island (Taiwan), “Formosa” (meaning “Beautiful Island”) in 1590. They are non-Chinese people; it was long a Chinese and Japanese pirate base. Fighting continued, between its original inhabitants of Taiwanese and the Chinese settlers, into the 19th century. In 1894-95 first Sino-Japanese War that ended in Manchus of the Qing (Ching) dynasty defeat, the late Manchu Qing Government forced to cede Formosa to Japan. This result was made by the Treaty of Shomonoseki in 1895 and remained under Japanese control until the end of the Second World War. Early on, Taiwan was conquered by the Qing in 1683 and for the first time became part of older China dynasty. However, today, the home country of Maa’s origin has around 165 institutions (93 universities) of higher education, which now has one of the best-educated populations in Asia. Among the major public (state) ones are the National Taiwan University (NTU) at Taipei, and National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) at Kaohsiung. NSYSU is also called National Chun-Shan University; according to Times Higher Education 2010-2011, NSYSU ranks as the 3rd university in Taiwan, 21st in Asia, and 163rd worldwide. National Taiwan University is ranked 51 to 60 ranks on Times Higher Education World University Rankings - Top Universities by Reputation 2013, the United Kingdom (see www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/...); King's College London (KCL) (21st in the world and 6th in Europe in the 2010, QS World University Rankings), the University of London, and University of Southern California (is one of the world's leading private research universities, located in the heart of Los Angeles), afterward.
Backing to Maa’s early school-time of Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung Industrial Senior High School (Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Industrial High school), the professional technical education, which is equivalent to Advanced Level General Certificate of Education, commonly referred to as an A-level in the United Kingdom; China Electronic Engineering College, the distance learning programme, which is in equivalence as UK’s Diploma of Higher Education / Undergraduate Diploma (as an Associate Degree in the United States). An additional, his middle education was taught by the Kaohsiung Municipal Chihjh (Ci Sian) Junior High School; and Kaohsiung Municipal San Min Elementary School was his first school in Taiwan.
Early Career
In 1989, Maa instituted Maa’s Office of Electrical Engineer, he settled himself in electrical technology and industries as a chief engineer in his early years. He put his professional and precise knowledge to good account in business management. A formal business management with business relationship established to provide for regular services, dealings, and other commercial transactions and deed. He had many customers having a business and credit relationship with his firm then he was a successful engineer.
Study Abroad and Immigration into the United Kingdom
In 1998, Maa studied abroad when he arrived in Great Britain; he studied at School of Built Environment, the University of Glamorgan (Prifysgol Morgannwg) in Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd, Wales for a master of science in real estate appraisal. Until the summer of 2000, Maa completed an academic course on “Towns through the Ages” from Christ Church College at the University of Oxford (is ranked the 2nd place worldwide on The Times Higher Education, World University Rankings 2012-2013
www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/...) in England. Afterward, Maa immigrated into the United Kingdom in the early year of 2004.
PHILOSOPHICAL VIEWS
Maa is a naturalist; he trusts spiritual naturalism and naturalistic spirituality, which teaches that “the unknown” created this wonderful world. “The unknown” arranged the nature with its law so that everything in nature is kept balanced and in order. However, human beings failed to control themselves, deliberately went against the law of nature, and resulted in disasters, which we deserved. He also is an occultist, a Taoist, and a Buddhist; but in Britain, he frequently goes to Christian and Catholic churches, where he makes friends with pastors and fathers as well as churchgoers. In his mind, he recognizes “Belief is truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart”. He is always a freethinker, does not accept traditional, social, and religious teaching, but based on his ideas: a thought or conception that potentially and actually exists in his mind as a product of mental activity - his opinion, conviction, and principle. If people have not come across eastern classics and philosophy, we are afraid that people would never understand TianLiang Maa. People cannot judge an eastern philosopher based on western ways of thinking. He studies I Ching discovering eastern classics of ancient origin consisting of 64 interrelated hexagrams along with commentaries. The hexagrams embody Taoist philosophy by describing all nature and human endeavour in terms of the interaction of yin and yang, and the classics may be consulted as an oracle.
Back in the 1990s when Maa just arrived at England, he had been offered places to do Ph.D. and LL.M. degrees (degree in Law and Politics of the European Union) by several western professors in the Great Britain. He has met all the requirements for postgraduate admissions to study at UK’s universities.
During his time at Oxford, he learnt a lot of British culture and folk-custom while carrying out research with many British and Western professors, experts, and archaeologists. This proves that Maa understands various aspects in British society, culture, and lifestyles. Of course, he does not fully understand about the perspectives of thinking of a typical British. For example, what would be the most valuable in life for a British person? What would a British want to gain from life? What is the goal in life for a British? Is it fortune or a lover? Alternatively, perhaps honour? On the other hand, maybe being able to travel around the world and see the world?
FAIRNESS and JUSTICE
As TianLiang Maa’s (馬天亮) saying are:
“Touching Fairness and Justice”
Feel good about themselves, but do not know the sufferings of the people...
Who can get easy life like them?
What is profile of modern society?
What type and style is truly solemn for this society identify?
Where “the characterization” is? Who can see? Did you see it?
Jurisprudence and Political Philosophy and Perspectives
Maa ever studied judicial review and governmental action, the impact of law and legal techniques, constitutional mechanisms for the protection of basic rights, and ensuring the integrity of commercial activity, the impact of law and legal techniques on government, policymaking, and administration, as well as the creation of markets. He tries to understand these critical trends in the political development of modern state. Maa will combine both theoretical and empirical approaches, and the conditions for democratic transition and the nature of state development in the ‘post-industrial’ era of globalisation and economic integration.
According as Maa’s legal experiences, he comprehend that “the knowledge of the law is like a deep well, out of which each man draught according to the strength of his understanding”, and, law and arbitrary power are in eternal enmity. He is also sure law and institutions are constantly tending to gravitate like clocks; they must be occasionally cleansed, and wound up, and set to true time.
The government issues a decree - an authoritative order having the force of law, which charged with putting into effect a country's laws and the administering of its functions. Any of the officials promulgate a law or put into practice relating to the government charged with the execution and administration of the nation's laws then they announce and carry out the creation of any order or new policy that will be responsible for the people.
Maa had knowledge in connexion with construction law; he also understands architectural arts, and as well learnt the forms by combining materials and parts include as an integral part concerning modern construct. I ever built urban buildings and rural architecture in different styles under new housing and building projects by the governmental administration and construction corporations.
Right now, Maa studies the problems caused by ethnic disputes and human armed conflicts in the modern society resulted code of mixed civil and criminal procedure. He wishes an agreement or a treaty to end human hostilities - the absence of war and other hostilities around the world. The interrelation and arrangement of freedom from quarrels and disagreement become harmonious relations living in peace with each other. Actually, erect peace in more friendly ways of making friendships for modern human society is comfortable in my ideal. It is like building monolithic architecture: houses and buildings for the people. Maa would like to do “something beautiful for `the unknown`”.
In the ethnic disagreement and armed conflicts as concerning the poor people and children notwithstanding they live through a bad environment on any of poor or crowded village or town in a particular manner - lived frugally. However, after years of industrialisation as a more educated population, becomes more aware of global plenum, continuing to be alive. Environmental groups are increasing and lobbing government will legislate to stop bad environmental and social practices. The establishments of human rights’ wide and untiring efforts will be alleviated people’s suffering. And as well the poor people shall meet and debate sustainable development and for a concerted government led action towards sustainability is an example that the younger generation are concerned for the future. It shall be making the younger easier for their life and make better on their lives, and help them to build a better future.
In present world, Maa really knows the full meanings of “Fundamental Human Rights and Equal Opportunities for the People”. He thinks ethics is the moral code governing the daily conduct of the individual toward those about him / her. It represents those rules or principles by which men and women live and work in a spirit of mutual confidence and service. Without going into the question of how an ethical code was formulated or why anybody should obey it, we can look at the matter in a common-sense fashion with reference to its influence upon our legal affairs. In brief, from the law point of view, a reputable ethical code embodies the qualities of accuracy, dependability, fair play, sound judgement, and service. It is based upon honesty.
No person can have an ethical code that concerns him / her alone. Living in society, as he / she must, a person encounters others whose rights must be respected as well as his / her own. An honest regard for the rights of others is an essential element of any decent code of ethics, and one that anyone must observe if anybody intends to follow that code. After all, ethics is not something apart from human beings. Indeed, there is no such thing apart from our actions and us. It is the duty, therefore, of every man and woman in legal affairs to see that his daily associations with others are truly in conformity with the plain meaning of the Ten Commandments: “Thou shalt not barratry, thou shalt not bear false witness, thou shalt not receive illegal fee and the rest”.
The knowledge Maa has, in connection with legal affairs, was usually come from his precious experiences of his past over ten year’s law and political careers. In an interval regarded as a distinct period of 1980s, he studied mixed civil and crime, and the code of mixed civil and criminal procedure for the problems caused by ethnic disputes and human armed conflicts in the modern society. He was especially one who maintains the language and customs of the group, and social security in Taiwan.
Since 30 July of 1988, Maa settled himself in law as a chief executive and scrivener at Central Legal, Real Estate, and Accounting Services Office; it is in the equivalent to a solicitor of the United Kingdom. The Office provided full legal, accounting, real estate, and commercial services to the public. He did his job as a person legally appointed by another to act as his or her agent in the transaction of business, specifically one qualified and licensed to act for plaintiffs and defendants in legal proceedings and affairs. Over and above Maa was a chairman and executive consultant at Taiwan Credit Information Company®, founded in 1994. The company offered services to the public in response to need and demand in the area of credit information.
Maa had excellent experiences in political and law work was pertaining to mixed civil and crime, the code of mixed civil and criminal procedure, construction, and commercial law abroad. The experiences of legal services related to the rights of private individuals and legal proceedings concerning these rights as distinguished. In the criminal proceedings, he did many cases for the defendants. Although an act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction; but he also laid legal claim, required as useful, just, proper, or necessary to the defendants under the human rights in the meantime. This provision ensures to the defendant a real voice in the subject.
The men whose judgement we respect are those who do not allow prejudices, preferences, or personalities to influence their decisions. Profit and self-aggrandisement are likewise ignored in their determination to reach an equitable and fair settlement. What are the basic principles upon which good judgement is founded? A keen intellect, a normal emotionally, a through understanding of human nature, experience of law work, sincerity, and integrity.
Developed a Technique for Abstract Photography and Abstractionist
In 1982, Maa developed a technique for abstractive photography, which applied “rayonism” to the photographic works. In November of 1984, Maa was 26-year-old, he instructed many professors and students of National Taiwan Normal University in photography of abstract impressionism and rayonnisme in Taipei, Taiwan. The word “rayonnisme” is French for rayonism - a style of abstract painting developed in 1911 in Russia.

Maa staged 32 individual, extraordinary exhibitions and annual special exhibitions on photography of abstractive image and Rayonnisme around Taiwan / Formosa. Maa was the first exhibitor around the country. All of the invited displays were by the Chinese Government, cultural and artistic organisations, and sponsors. Maa’s earliest exhibition took place in the National Taiwan Arts Education Institute (Museum) on 19 December 1983 when Maa was 25 years old; Maa was the youngest exhibitor in the history of the Institute in any solo exhibitions. The Institute that was opened in March 1957, kept a collection of Maa’s work. It is currently updating the Institute’s internal organisation and strengthening co-operation with leading institutes and museums around the world. Meanwhile, it widened the institute’s scope to increase its emphasis on Taiwan’ regional culture and folk arts.
Modernization in the Modern Abstract Arts of Taiwan
Maa’s works is the beginning of modernization in the modern abstract arts of Taiwan, China and greater Chinese society in the world. The use of “modernisation” as a concept that is opposed to “Traditional” of “Conservative” ideas began with the approach of the 20th century. It spreads rapidly through academic circles, and was broadly accepted as a means to reform society. Chinese Manchu Qing (Ching) dynasty’s first steps toward modernisation began in the Tung-chih era (1862-1874) with the “Self-Empowerment Movement”. During the late 19th century, as late Manchu dynasty was confronted on all sides by foreign aggression, voices throughout society debated the most effective means to reform and strengthen the country. Some advocated “combining the best of East and West”, while others went so far as to call for “complete Westernisation”. Taiwan was at the centre of these waves of reform. Faced with direct threats against the island by foreign enemies, the Chinese Ching dynasty court took special steps to push Taiwan’s modernisation.
In a role just like that of a gardener wanting to create a rich and fertile environment for the seeds of culture, one in which Maa may sprout, grow and bloom. Maa aims to provide an educational stimulus for society by introducing his works - Maa can express the neo-romantic spirit deftly from various creations and supporting international artistic exchanges. Maa believes that the first step in creating such a new and independent state is the real emergence of culture and arts, for which the art and science of designing and erecting buildings, and fine arts (including photography and motion picture) of the civilization is a good measurement of success. For the foreseeable future, Maa should be continuing to forge ahead, working diligently and unceasingly towards its mission of raising China and Formosa / Taiwan’s culture in his spare time.
Became an Author and a Scholar
In 1980, TianLiang Maa completed his first book - scenario original “The Soul's Sentimentalizing”, also named: “Hun Yun : Jin Qi Tu Rui” 電影原著《魂韻》(衿契吐蕊) then Maa was at the age of 22. In 1983, The General Library of the University of California, Berkeley in the United States of America, collected and kept Maa’s writings - scenario original 「魂韻 : 衿契吐蕊」“Hun Yun : jin qi tu rui”, included a musical composition of his own – “Sonate Nr. 1 C-dur op. 3 für Klavier (piano)”, composed on 3rd April 1977 then Maa was 18 years old. The works were published in 1980; the theme was based on “The Soul's Sentimentalizing”. Another masterpiece was an Album of Academic Work for News Publication “TianLiang Maa (Theophilus Raynsford Mann) Photographic Exhibition of Rayonnisme / Rayonism”, published in 1985. The Hathi Trust Digital Library, the University of Michigan also collected and kept Maa’s writings.
Authorship
Maa’s articles and writings were published in more than 200 different kinds of domestic and foreign magazines, newspapers, and periodicals, in the period between May of 1972 and 1990s. It was all started when Maa was just 13-year-old. Many of which have been very influential. These have been quoted by Western and Eastern scholars many times in the last few years, making Maa one of the highly cited technological, artistic, and managing public administrators in the world in the late 20th and early 21st century. The Ministry of the Interior in Taiwan had registered Maa’s professional writings and given him two certificates of copyright. The numbers are 33080 and 33081 on 4th July of 1985; and Taiwan’s Gazette of The Presidential Office issue No. 4499, featured his writings on 4th September 1985.

Project update! I just recently got my 3D printer setup in working order, so now I can start working in earnest on some of these projects. Currently on the list is the diorama project (as many of you know), which I am planning to use more 3D printing for (I’m not happy with the real trees, so I’m going to try something). Then there is this: movable eyes in a 1/6 head sculpt. This test print told me a ton of new things, but the most important is that this eye size will work (5mm sclera, 2.5mm iris) with my 38mm head sculpt standard. Will probably be a 2026 finish, with the dio and all needing priority, but if I can make this work then it’ll be a huge thing for me and my figures.

Sorry I haven't been uploading any LEGO pics in about a week, but soon I'll be posting some Clone Trooper decals! :D So if you could, give me ideas, and if I say yes to them, upload a refrence pic or two. Also, now that I've learned you can only have up to 200 pics, I will now delete some of my photos that aren't much, so I have more room for my cooler photos. So save all the photos you want to save, and comment on this creation once you saved them. :)

U.S. Army Africa commander meets South African military leaders
By Rick Scavetta, U.S. Army Africa
VICENZA, Italy – Shortly after Maj. Gen. William B. Garrett III’s aircraft touched down at Johannesburg’s Tambo International Airport, he was shaking hands with Brig. Gen. Chris Gildenhuys, commanding general of the South African Army Armour Formation. The two officers last met in Monterey, Calif., during a July 2009 bi-lateral conference sponsored by the U.S. military.
In a sign of U.S. Army Africa’s growing relationship with South Africa, it was now South Africa’s turn to host the commander of U.S. Army Africa.
“Organizations don’t collaborate, people do,” Garrett said. “This visit is an invaluable opportunity to strengthen the relationship between our Army and the South African Army.”
On March 7th, Garrett flew to South Africa for a weeklong tour, marking his first visit to that country. In the days to follow, Gildenhuys escorted Garrett to meet South Africa’s senior army leaders and tour South Africa’s key military installations near Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Cape Town.
In Pretoria, Garrett stopped at the U.S. Embassy to meet with U.S. Ambassador Donald H. Gips and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Ambassador Helen La Lime. Then, at South Africa’s army headquarters, Garrett spoke with Lt. Gen. Solly Zacharia Shoke, chief of the South Africa’s army, about transformation efforts underway in South Africa’s army. Garrett shared recent accomplishments of U.S. Army Africa soldiers and civilians, who work with the land forces of many African nations to strengthen mutual security capacity and capabilities.
At South Africa’s Joint Operations Headquarters, Garrett met with Rear Admiral Phillip Schoultz, Director General for Joint Operations and Acting Chief for Joint Operations who discussed his nation’s peacekeeping efforts. Afterward, Garrett met with officers at the South African Army College. While visiting the 43rd South African Brigade headquarters, Garrett met with Brig. Gen. Lawrence Smith and observed preparation for training under the U.S. State Department-led African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance program. Then, Garrett stopped at South Africa’s army engineer formation headquarters for a series of information briefings.
“We have a lot to learn from the South African Army,” Garrett said. “We will use that knowledge to update the U.S. Army’s training and doctrine while enhancing interoperability between our forces.”
The next day, Garrett flew from Waterkloof Air Force Base on Pretoria’s outskirts to Bloemspruit Air Force Base near Bloemfontein. He toured South Africa’s armor school and visited the 44th Parachute Regiment. From Bloemfontein, Garrett flew to Ysterplaat Air Force Based near Cape Town to learn more about South Africa’s reserve forces at Fort Ikapa , followed by a visit to South Africa’s joint tactical headquarters at Western Cape.
U.S. Army Africa has already seen how senior leader engagements can quickly develop into beneficial training opportunities.
In March 2009, Command Sgt. Maj. Earl Rice – then U.S. Army Africa’s senior enlisted leader – visited South Africa’s Special Forces headquarters, a visit conducted with representatives from the U.S. Army Ranger Training Brigade. Within a few weeks, U.S. soldiers got a taste of hardcore South African special forces training. Three Army NCOs underwent a grueling three-week survival course in the South African bush, learning valuable lessons on adapting to the harsh environment, maintaining endurance and overcoming nearly insurmountable challenges—tools they carried back to their units.
Meanwhile, U.S. Army Africa is increasing its capacity building efforts in Africa through a continuing series of senior leader engagements, part of the command’s strategy to expand cooperative relationships and develop enduring partnerships across the continent. Senior leader engagements are a traditional tool used by Army leaders to enhance capacity building efforts.
Leaders use these engagements to gain better regional understanding and insights while encouraging follow-on initiatives such as military-to-military familiarization events and combined exercises and training opportunities.
In July 2009, Garrett was among several U.S. Department of Defense leaders who sat down with South African Ministry of Defense officers during the 11th annual U.S.-RSA Defense Committee meeting in Monterey. While at the bi-lateral conference, military leaders discussed policy, familiarization events, military support to combating HIV/AIDS, plus education and training opportunities for military members.
Several military-to-military familiarization events in 2010 are already being planned, in coordination with U.S. military officers at the U.S. Embassy in South Africa. These events include officer and NCO professional development activities, a leader exchange program, and various engagement activities including military medicine, military police, facilities management and helicopter operations.
The New York National Guard leads cooperative military efforts with South Africa under the State Partnership Program. Upcoming SPP engagements include events involving senior enlisted leaders, military police and chaplains.
“This visit will strengthen the relationship with our South African colleagues,” Garrett said. “Our task now is to expand this relationship into an enduring partnership between the U.S. Army and the South African Army.”
