Of course, very few of us think , that a severely handicapped child may suddenly arrive in our ….normal family!!! Things like this, like the “death” theme , are considered as taboos in our …civilized society….
But, THERE IS (!!!) an angelic place on this Earth, where both handicapped children AND the death theme, are repeatedly faced with the utmost unconditional Love and Reverence, FOR FREE !! At the hospice of Helen’s & Douglas’ House of Oxford/ UK !!!
During our Philippe’s short life, this exceptional place has stood both for my Alexandra and Philippe as an open, adorable, true, family home!! What a luck and happiness for me, knowing that my children are taken care with a perfect professional AND an amazing humane way !
Because THIS is what this amazing place does : offering QUALITY OF LIFE to children, with “life-shortening conditions”!!!! Human words do not really describe this angelic place!!
The good-bye bedroom of the just gone to the Other Side children in the Helen’s House hospice, is a normal, joyful , colourful bedroom!! When I entered this bedroom to say good-bye to our darling Philippe, his baby-body was looking like an alive sleeping Philippe in his bed, having his Teddy in his arms ! His face was angelically serene, like the faces of all sleeping children…Only while kissing tenderly his frozen cheeks, I realized that Philippe was not in that lovely little body anymore!! He had already been welcomed at the Other Side, with utmost Love and Reverence!! Little Jesus that he was, having just completed his difficult Task of unconditional Love!!

This love of ours has us really worried. After exhaustive testing by an internal medicine specialist, we are no closer to knowing the source of the horrific ulcerative colitis that has been plaguing him since January. We love him so.

This is an inspiring statue next to the uss midway. I only had a few minuets to grab this before work. At first i was frusterated with the seagull not moving. But i kind of like him in the shot once i saw it on the computer
A bit late for Mother's Day, but I was worried that she had mange. After discussing it with a knowledgable friend, he assured me that kitts can easily do this kind of temporary damage to mama when they are young. I think maybe mothers deserve at least two days a year!

▶ "The profound joy portrayed in this [aluminum, 25-foot tall] sculpture was promoted by the spontaneous surrender of the Japanese, thus ending World War II on August 14, 1945. Among the celebrants in Times Square in New York City were a United States sailor and a nurse embracing amidst the multitude of joy makers.[...]
This celebrated moment in the history of our nation prompted preeminent American sculptor J. Seward Johnson to create this sculpture, which he named 'Unconditional Surrender.' After several years of intensive efforts, a proud veteran of World war II, Jack Curran, bought the sculpture [for $500,000], and with the outstanding support given by various Sarasota County veterans organizations, he was able to donate the sculpture to the City of Sarasota."

▶ The sculpture —Disney-esque kitsch in appearance— was installed in 2009 (and repaired after an automobile crash, in 2012). Its title, Unconditional Surrender, can seem ironic, considering that the embrace it depicts (based upon a famous photo) has been revealed to have been unwanted.

This song always gets me thinking about being different and being loved for it, so I thought why not try to do a gown that is so colorful that you can't help but stare. I look at this dress and i think of a garden when everything is in bloom and i love it and this song!
Last night I was fortunate enough to document the “Unconditional Surrender Kiss Statue” before it was dismantled and shipped away this morning. I used the sun as back lighting on the statue which gave me a strong silhouette of the couple. With a lot of trial, error and over 40 strobed lighting shots, I was able to compose the final image. Enjoy.
Workers today began removing the statue of a sailor kissing a nurse near the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum on San Diego’s downtown waterfront. The 25-foot-tall sculpture, called “Unconditional Surrender,” is based on the iconic 1945 Life magazine cover photo taken in New York’s Time Square when the end of World War II was announced. It’s a popular place for amorous tourists to replicate the kiss and take photographs. ”Unconditional Surrender” was loaned to San Diego in 2007 by the Sculpture Foundation and is headed for New Jersey, where it will undergo maintenance before the Santa Monica-based foundation loans it to another city. The roughly 6,000-pound sculpture and its 24,000-pound base will be shipped aboard two flatbed trucks, according to the Port of San Diego.

Happy Valentine's Day!
This is one of the small statues created by Seward Johnson based on the famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph taken on V-J Day in Times Square. The sculpture is/was in front of the USS Iowa Battleship docked in San Pedro, Los Angeles, CA. It is called "unconditional surrender" and the sculptor says he actually based it on a similar photograph taken by Victor Jorgenson.
