Although this is probably the most iconic view and place in Assisi, the whole town is such a charming historical gem with narrow wonderful streets with ancient houses and so many different churches.

Absolutely stunning Interior of the most iconic location in Assisi. Blue is by far my favorite color, so everytime I see it being used on church ceilings, it makes the place even more special for me as was the case here. The whole town is such a charming historical gem with narrow wonderful streets with ancient houses and so many different churches.

This lamp overlooks the so-called “Heaven’s Steps”, an enchanting place of the old Perugia.
On the right side you can see in perspective a stretch of the ancient etruscan fortified wall (III-II cent. B.C.)
Later, on its remains, buildings were raised in stages. Those ones we see date back to XVI-XVII cent.
The images posted have been taken in different occasions with different cameras.

~ Hai mai veduto le fonti del Clitunno? Se non ancora - e credo di no, altrimenti me ne avresti parlato - valle a vedere. Io l'ho viste da poco e mi rammarico di non averlo fatto prima ~ Plinio il Giovane, Epistole (VIII, 8).

Vero gioiello naturalistico dell'Umbria, laghetto dalle limpide acque e sorgente del fiume Clitunno, era un luogo ritenuto sacro dai Romani e costellato di templi, terme e ville. Fonte d'ispirazione di poeti e pittori di tutte le epoche, da Plinio a Virgilio, da Byron e Carducci, lungo le rive del fiume sorge il Tempietto del Clitunno, recentemente inserito nella lista del Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Unesco, quale parte del sito seriale "I Longobardi in Italia, i luoghi del Potere".
