Every now and then just give yourself the joy of getting out and seeing the world - it really is a sumptuous place!!
Never more true than on this hike - top to bottom in one day... My spine still recovering from all its hospital nonsense it was my first real big physical test... made it... just... But the emotion of the beauty and what it meant is with me forever...
Same as the previous upload but I've knocked the spots off it! Thanks McSporran for kindly pointing them out. In my defence I've been whitewashing ceilings for days, all I'm seeing is spots.
Wishing my USofA friends a VERY HAPPY and a BLESSED Thanksgiving and to ALL a HAPPY and a BLESSED Day!
I THANK ALL who bother to take the time to look at my humble stream especially those who care to leave a comment. I am so THANKFUL! I learn something about photography from all of you.
Thanksgiving is NOT just what I am thankful FOR but TO WHOM I am Thankful TO … GOD!
RIAT 2022's outstanding participant must be this US Air Force Boeing E-4B Watchkeeper 73-1676
Using call-sign 'Gordo 01' she arrived on the Friday as a static exhibit for the show.
Here on Departure Day, she's being towed to the western hold before starting and once airborne she set course for RAF Mildenhall where she performed a number of circuits before setting course for Aviano Air Base in Northern Italy
One of four used by the US Air Force as Advanced Airborne Command Posts, they carry thirteen external communications systems along with Air to Air refuelling capability and are designed for missions lasting 72 hours

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday, everyone!
Safe travels to all out there in the USofA who might be traveling during this upcoming holiday.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for the kind comments and favs. They are very much appreciated!
It took many shots to get this one "wrong".
It was a bright and crisp morning, and there was more dew than usual. The sun and water complemented each other to create an effect of 'city lights at night'. I wanted to capture this feeling in the image. So I knew I had to get it "wrong".

Taken from the roof of 230 Fifth, a fantastic bar with gorgeous views of the city. If you like this, check out the Hong Kong Skyline - Gotham City II and a strange perspective of Gotham City.
Feel free to add a note if you recognize any building/street.

Even though we spent two nights in The Dalles, we already had our routine sorted. Dan wanted to get the first light shot of the Eastbound Z at 'The Dalles' bridge, Andy R'bauer was not functional before breakfast and was cranky about committing to what he had agreed to the night before, and I was in the middle, wanting coverage and a nice breakfast that would take a year of my life for every mouthful (seriously, their portion sizes are diabetically big).
After the BNSF Z came through, it was time to decide which side of the river we wanted to sit and stare at signals. This morning, we chose the UP, which paid off as we scored an Eastbound Z at Celilo right after seeing a Westbound potash with CP and KCS power. The UP Z boosted a mix of international containers upfront and domestic in the middle and rear portions with four locos up front and two shoving from the rear. We didn't bother to chase this further, as beating it from Celilo was barely obtainable (never underestimate a boomer who has had his morning coffee).
What I find interesting about Biggs Junction is that the local area has a population of 0. Now I'm gonna make the assumption that this is alive, people, as just a glance at the place told me that the population of dead hookers truck drivers never paid for would give the population of The Dalles a run for its money. On a lighter note, however, how pretty Mount Hood looks with its snow <3, and on a diabetic note, the gas station just up from this shot had the rolling hot doggies and beer. I weighed myself before and after my trip to the USofA and came back 6kg. God bless M'erica!!
You may also wonder why my caption and Flickr username are Big Nigs. Well, simply, I wanted to hook up with this girl when I was in high school, and I didn't want her to know my actual name, so I changed my username on Snapchat to Big Nigs, and since then, it has just stuck. Exciting story, I know...

Was going to be 7 panel stitch..haha.. memory card ran out. Last pics of the day....in fact, last picts of the trip.. we left the next morning to go back home to USofA.
Fascinating architecture...leaning buildings? Not sure if that was by design or simply result of foundation movement.
Lovely
Another one from the same bright and crisp morning. The sun and water helped here too, but the feeling captured is very different.

For six word story.
Tangerines are prominent in my experience of Christmas. When we lived in Alberta, Canada, we knew that Christmas was near when wooden boxes of tangerines from Japan arrived in local supermarkets. Every year we bought a box and joyfully started consuming them!
In 1973 we took Amy and Eric out of school and headed for California to spend Christmas with my sister-in-law's family. We left after work on a Friday early in December, taking with us tangerines we hadn't yet consumed. We knew we couldn't take them into Arizona or California and planned on finishing them on the way there. But, whoa! We found out at the Alberta/Montana border that we couldn't even take them into the good ole USofA! So at 10:30 or 11 PM, we woke Amy and Eric, who were already asleep, and went inside and... yes... ate tangerines until we could eat no more! That's a vivid Christmas memory for all four of us!

Net Flicks tonight sees United States of America 89th AW Boeing VC-25A 82-8000 parked at Stansted
Using call-sign 'SAM45' she was 2nd to land after 'Air Force One' which bought in US President Donald Trump and the First Lady for the NATO Summit being held this week
Both VC-25's are to be replaced by a pair of 747-8's currently being re-worked to 'Presidential' standards

If you are fascinated by bridges, this is one you have to walk across. And if you get an overcast day with occasional rain while you are it (like I did), consider yourself very lucky!
If you look at this shot closely, you will notice that it is not symmetrical - even though it looks so at first glance. That is the beauty of the imperfections and "happy accidents" of lomgraphy.

Neigh!
Not much to say about this one, just trying to find pockets of sun on this otherwise overcast day. Was a big surprise us to however to see a Norfolk Southern unit on BNSF traffic, a long way from home!
The way this works in the USofA is that if a railroad uses another railroads unit for their trains. The engine running hours are recorded and then the railroad who used the power returns the favour by giving out one of their locos for that specific period of time. You could very easily imagine this not being done properly.

There is no neglect regarding the maintaining of this structure, rather it is mine for not including it in my earlier series from San Fransisco. It is the Exploratorium at night and as my daughter says, "It looks very Greek".
United States of America 89th/1AW Boeing C-32 09-0017 parked 'somewhere' in the UK (edit: actually Mildenhall)
In for the POTUS visit to the NATO Summit in London, this is his 'Escape' option
Should anything untoward 'kick-off', POTUS would be bundled aboard a waiting VIP chopper and flown direct to there for a quick exit leaving the Stansted located fleet of Air Force One and it's counterpart, two more of these C-32's, a Gulfstream
C-37 and a C-17 transport to fend for themselves
Controlling everything would be an E-4B (747) Command Post which always shadows POTUS wherever he goes in the World
It's actually a Net Flicks Album candidate as it has it's own blue and white poles and rope barrier set out around it

I'm guessing by the logo that this is an Air Force Helicopter. They did several passbys above the river while we were there. I'm not sure what they were doing, but it was a great chance for me to do some panning.

Returning to Northolt after delivering the US President to Stansted for his departure to Lithuania, the second Vintage US Marine Corps HMX-1 Sikorsky VH-3D Sea King BuAerNo. 159351 caught on short finals to land
Note all the additional aerials, sensors and that starboard sponson mounted APU
On closer inspection the two sponsons are actually a different length - apparent when you look at the distance on each between the back of the wheel recess and the rear ends - the port one being longer

Wishing all from the USofA a HAPPY, SAFE and a BLESSED Independence Day.
Father of all nations and ages,
we recall the day when our country
claimed its place among the family of nations;
for what has been achieved we give you thanks,
for the work that still remains we ask your help,
and as you have called us from many peoples
to be one nation,
grant that, under your providence,
our country may share your blessings
with all the peoples of the earth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Thank you so much for your visit!
As you all might have guessed, this was taken on the Brooklyn Bridge. I just arrived to New York for a couple of weeks and my goal is to post a new picture every day.
