HSS......... the macromondays' theme for 4/24 is intentional blur.
after shooting a gazillion pictures, i have determined that that is not easy with a little point and shoot camera that doesn't have ways to adjust the variables; but i came up with 4 pictures that i liked. this might be the MM posting for tomorrow.
Excerpt from the plaque:
“We Are Shaped by the Obstacles We Face” is an art installation that begins with a sculpture of a teenage Terry Fox before he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He has both of his legs, and his hair is less curly than it became after chemotherapy. The artwork continues in the form of a path that, like Terry’s journey, travels westward and is interrupted by a series of formidable obstacles. Each granite piece serves as an opportunity for visitors to contemplate obstacles they themselves might have encountered, or are currently struggling with, in their own lives.
“We Are Shaped by the Obstacles We Face” is a citizen-led public space initiative funded through the generosity of the Legacy Art Project Toronto, including the Jarvis family and a community of donors, the City of Toronto, Toronto Waterfront BIA, and the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). Waterfront Toronto delivered this project on behalf of its private and public partners. The installation and landscape are a collaboration between the artist Jon Sasaki and the landscape architects DTAH, who were selected through a national competition guided by Art+Public UnLtd.

The view from the Intracoastal Waterway Water Taxi ride brought several fishermen into view along the seawall of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. This guy was multi-tasking!

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park offers something for everyone, from the athlete seeking a route away from heavy traffic, the college student conducting research, to families drawn in by an astounding variety of native and tropical plant species, such as the majestic Banyan trees and also migrating birds, trailways that offer seclusion from the city, from the kids whose lives are changed by a summer at camp, to the weekend visitor enjoying the beauty of our Elk’s Lodge & Youth Camp.

Angeregt durch einen Artikel bei PetaPixel (aber ganz und gar ohne der dortigen Anleitung zu folgen) hat mich die Lust überkommen, unserm lichtverseuchten Himmel ein paar Sterne abzuringen. Der Nachthimmel im Süden wird bei uns durch das Glühen der Flughafenbeleuchtung dominiert. Trotzdem versteckt sich in diesem Leuchten ein Himmel, der mich an meine Kindertage erinnert. Mit dem Schlafsack auf der Wiese, irgendwo im Heckengäu oder im Schwarzwald. Man muss Ihn nur erst 'ausgraben'...

Dass Stuttgart eine Stadt am Wasser ist, merkt man erst wenn man gräbt. Es gibt hier kaum Gewässer. Die Stadt liegt an einem weitgehend verrohrten Rinnsal namens Nesenbach. Es mündet in den Neckar. Der Neckar selbst, findet in der Stadt aber kaum statt. Und gleichzeitig sitzt die Stadt doch auf einem beachtlichen Vorkommen an Mineralwasser.
Meine Sommerreise ging an’s Wasser. Wir waren am Lac de Ste. Croix, einem türkisblauen Wunder in der Haute Provence, gespeist aus der großen und großartigen Verdonschlucht. Dick aufgetragen? Ja. Wasser macht mich durchatmen. Wasser ist etwas, das mir in Stuttgart wirklich fehlt. Der Gedanke daran macht mir Fernweh.
Wie also sieht Wasser hier in Stuttgart aus? Ich suche. Das erste was ich finde und zeige, ist Wasser in Rohren. In Bahnhofsnähe verlaufen die Trassen eines futuristischen Implantats im Stadtraum: Des sogenannten Grundwassermanagements für die Bahnhofsbaustelle. Stuttgart verändert sein Gesicht immer und immer wieder, seit ich hier lebe. Die Stadt liegt schön genug, um das auszuhalten ohne Ihre Identität zu verlieren. Die Veränderung ist tatsächlich ein Stück Identität. Dass ich an der Stelle, an der nun dieses verdrehte Haus steht, im Vorgängerbau mein Studium als Filmvorführer verdient habe, ist eine Randnotiz.
Und doch sind diese Konstruktionen nun fremd, lassen die Stadt größer und kühler Wirken. Ferner und weiter. Vielleicht ist das ja so, weil Wasser in den Rohren fließt…

Earlier I found that fractal patterns in origami can be implemented in two opposite manners: inward and outward. If inward manner requires more skill and quality paper because the smaller details get the more difficult it's to make accurate folds. The outward method requires only a a room and a sheet of paper big enough.
