The world is turning #UNBlue!

To celebrate today’s (Saturday October 24th 2015) 70th anniversary of the United Nations, landmarks across the world are being lit blue to highlight the UN’s message of peace and dignity for all.

On the very very rare occasion, you will see me without blue hair (or fur, or feathers!). This avi was too cute to resist - a prize in the Cioccolata hunt. Taken at BitterBlue - Nah!

Under dark skies Two of the six visiting Luftwaffe Panavia Tornados 46+23 and 46+49 can be seen in this video, blasting away into the dark unblue yonder 😎:)

A rather large rain shower can be seen in the distance which was heading our way fast! A hand-held iPhone video :)

Low-res shot taken with an iPhone 6s iPhone photography - apologies for the poor quality of some of these phone photos - sometimes they're nice and sharp - sometimes they're all pixelated and not up to my usual standard. The videos are better :)

Turn the World UN Blue

In anticipation of the #UNBlue celebration on 24 October, a few classes of the United Nations International School in New York hosted a competition to draw the school building in blue. The sketch shown is the winning sketch of middle school student Ning.

Turn the World #UNBlue

As suggested by a friend, here's a B&W treatment of one of my more colourful pictures.

To help mark the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, more than 300 iconic monuments, buildings, landscapes, museums, bridges, and other landmarks in more than 75 countries across the globe are being lit blue — the official colour of the United Nations — on UN Day, 24 October 2015.

Today the new Secretary-General of the UN, Ban Ki Moon, came to the headquarters offices in Nairobi for a town hall address to staff. (Nice to see that he wore his UN Blue tie :-)) He is a very eloquent speaker and I believe he will be a good successor to Kofi Annan.

Having a big lens allows you to stand with the press folks.

On that day, a new architectural symbol of Baku, the Heydar Aliyev Center turned its lightings into UN Blue together with close partnership of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the United Nations Country Team in Azerbaijan.

“I am grateful our Member States are showing such strong enthusiasm in marking 70 years of UN support for peace, development and human rights,” said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. “By turning the world UN Blue for a day, we can light the way to a better tomorrow.”

“Participating in this campaign offers Azerbaijan and all Azerbaijanis the unique opportunity to showcase commitment to the UN principles of dignity and prosperity for all. We are pleased to support this UN campaign by lighting up the Center,” said Anar Alakbarov, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Located in Baku, the Heydar Aliyev Center is recognized as one of the world’s masterpieces in architecture and has immediately grown into a signature architectural landmark of modern Baku. In 2012, this center was mentioned among the ten most attractive new constructions by the US Business Insider magazine while the Architectural Digest, came up with the list of the world’s most remarkable architectural landmarks, placing Heydar Aliyev Center on the top five. Its architecture won the Design of the Year award in 2014 by the Design Museum in London, the UK. Ms. Zaha Hadid, the author of the building’s design, was the first female winner at this contest and the winner of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize.

Don't knock at my door

Time is up

No more cheatin nights

No more tears to dry

You and I we're like so Bye~Bye

Finally, I am over you

Totally unblue when I can hear myself saying,

"I am better off without you.Stronger than ever

and I, I'm telling you now."

Don't go knocking on my door

Gotta stay away for sure

You say you miss me like crazy now

but I ain't buyin that, you'd better get off my back

don't go knocking on my...door

I can see

It's no mystery

It's so clear to me

What we had is all history

It's ok, I don't sleep at night

It will be alright

I can hear myself saying, "I am better off without you.Stronger than ever and I, I'm telling you now."

Don't knock at my door

Do what you want, as long as you don't come back

Shot is taken while back, for those songs, and again, it is NOT dedicated to anyone.

Shot had to be a little bit blurry, to show the motion in the picture.
