This photo was from last year, when Clear Lake Goddess gifted me often with morning skies filled with spectacular and explosive cloud formations, so much that I was hoping to get a break so that I could sleep in.
This year, she seems to be teaching me a lesson by putting out hazy colorless sunrises every morning!
Maybe the spell will be broken tomorrow, or maybe not!

backstory: The day after this year's first snow, I took a walk. Everything around me was so quiet and white, and I tried to express this mood while editing the shot. I chose Tintype for this, as I believed it would work perfectly here.

Die südliche Stadtumfahrung von Krywyj Rihwird vor allem von Kohlezügen genutzt. Nach einigen Zügen aus der falschen Richtung wurden wir am Mittag dann auch endlich belohnt und eine VL10 kam nach Osten an unserem Standpunkt vorbei.
Although I titled this photo HOPE, it would take a miracle for the killing in Ukraine to finally stop. Last night I woke up and read the news about the shelling of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. I couldn't calm down. But even during the day I read and heard such bad stories and saw terrible pictures that only this one word stuck in my head - HOPE!

Train: Local 6441 from Kolomya to Rachiv
Eine Sektion der 2M62 1001 verkehrt mit ihrem netten kleinen 2-Wagen Wendezug durch die Karpaten. Der Zuglauf von Kolomya nach Rachiv ist zwar nicht besonders weit, trotzdem ist der Zug gute 4 Stunden unterwegs. Hier ist er an der Ausfahrt aus dem Ferienort Worochta und nimmt den Anstieg zum Pass von Voroneko in Angriff.

Train: EKr-1-01 as D762 from Odessa to Kiew
Zwei Züge gibt es von der Baureihe EKr1. Entwickelt und gebaut wurde sie in der Ukraine. Die Inbetriebssetzung erfolgte noch im EM Jahr. Heute werden die Züge im hochwertigen Fernverkehr eingesetzt. Diese Garnitur kommt aus Odessa und fährt nach Kiev.

Ein Güterzug fährt über die Güterumfahrung von Djepropetrovsk nach Norden. Am Zug hängt deine Skoda E-Lok welche in die Ukraine geliefert wurden.

Direkt hinter Salischtschyky wird die Dnister mit einer riesigen Brücke überquert. Der Verkehr auf der Brücke ist äusserst spärlich. Es gibt ein Regionalzugpaar von Kolomya nach Salischtschyky welches um die Mittagszeit in Salischtschyky wendet. Und dann gibt es, zumindest in diesem Jahr, sogar ein Fernverkehrszug von Rhachiv nach Kiew über die Brücke - diese Fahrten finden aber bei Dunkelheit statt. So ist dieser Regio, eine Sektion einer 2M62 mit Wendezug, die einzige Leistung bei Tageslicht überhaupt nach Süden. Wir hatten ein ziemliches Glück mit den Wolken ... denn es hätte auch schief gehen können.

"Forbidden zone". Many railway bridges in Ukraine are still fenced and guarded. One of them is the valley bridge north of Delyatin on the line to Ivano Frankivsk. Train 144 from Vorochta to Kiev climbes the last ascent before it will reach the neverending plains of central Ukraine.

Ein Lokalzug verlässt gerade die kleine Station Nezabudyne im "nirgendwo". Er kommt aus Dnipropetrovsk und ist mit seiner 2TE10 doch ein wenig übermotorisiert.
The daily local from Rachiv to Kolomya has almost climbed the summit of the transcarpartian diesel-line when it crossed a small trestle near the station of Lasetshynia.
In the rural villages of the Carpathean mountains horses are still an important mode of transportation.
A horse carriage waits until the morning train from Kolomyia to Rachiv has passed. Soon after the train the operator will set up a temporary level-crossing by placing wooden bars on the railway tracks that enable the horse carriage to cross.
