L&N Searchlights stand guard as a pair of YN2 CW44’s lead Hazard Mine Run C840-24 into daylight out of Hazard Tunnel. They'll run down the main through Hazard Yard, south toward the siding at Edjouet to tie down for the morning. The track in the foreground is the L&N Lotts Creek Branch.

R233 runs around its freshly-loaded train at Typo, passing the L&N searchlights still standing here.

Empties head out of Hazard to Typo to load, passing the signals at Combs.

Forth Engineering at Risehow didn't swap the second and third letters of their sign around in honour of yesterday's Carlisle - Blackpool test train, sadly.

My tentative steps back into this hobby were pre-empted by a good forecast down the coast and a split-box 37 on point.

As the day went on the forecast became sketchier and with my original location hit by cloud I headed north to the familiar Flimby sun window.

The train had got away 22' early from Carlisle. Had it continued at this pace the shot would be a blinger but it was 4' late here and the settings tell their own story.

I then remembered why I stopped doing it.

This typewriter was used by my great-grandfather when he worked for a local paper in the first half of the 20th century. The machine was made in Dresden but I have not been able to find out the year it was created yet.
