Happy Truck Thursday!

I'm Finally back

It was nearly seven years since I last wet a line. Fished a small not to difficult lake near to my home known as Myths Pool, just to get a bit of a bend in the rod.

Well it is only easy if you drop your baits on feeding carp. If we don't catch somewhere like there it means we are casting to the wrong spot. I never blame the elements in August, as in weather. Though it sounds like the type of lake if the elements are half right, your in with a good chance of a carp.

Picked the worse time to go though. I think it was the hottest 72 hours this year. Had two just hovering around the twenty mark. This was the best looking one, a two tone Mirror carp.

Will try again just hope it isn't so hot next time, the bigger carp don't seem so active in the heat there. Makes it harder work to catch one, when it is really hot. Though the smaller carp were bombing about everywhere.

Update - Did Return

Though was told the two forties in the lake are not originals. They were put in recently. I was told they came from the Isle of Wight. Which was disappointing for me, maybe not others, but I would of been happy enough catching just the much smaller scaly stockies in the lake, but it would be hard to avoid hooking one of the much bigger carp eventually.

Unfortunately some lake owners are feeling they are under pressure to stock their waters with big carp as well nowadays. Instead of giving the smaller stocked carp time to grow on naturally. This pressure unfortunately comes from anglers who are not willing to work to hard to catch a big fish. They just want the chance of big carp far to easy these days.

I am what I would call an old school carp angler.....So I'm now planning to find another water with a good head of carp that is not to difficult to get a run from. Which will gently ease me back into the swing of things.

Then hopefully eventually return to fishing some very difficult low stock waters again.

Hello there,

I couldn't help but notice this vibrant lily while on a recent neighbourhood walk. I really liked its vibrant colours in contrast to the greens.

Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. I do love hearing from you!

Have a wonderful day!

Actually, if you look closer, there are two trees.

From memory, the first time I have seen such a variety of Plumeria.

My favorite lilac, introduced in 1972. I FINALLY found one to purchase at the nursery. Hopefully in a few years i can enjoy such in my backyard. Right now I do have a couple of lilacs there, one of them blooming beautifully this year, to my surprise..:-))

Not all the bougainvillea at the lake are lilac coloured. There was actually quite a variety of colours planted

The Dianthus barbatus, called the poet’s carnation, is a species of the genus Dianthus, native to southern Europe and part of Asia, which has become a popular ornamental plant. The cultivated plant has colors in a variegated set of white, pink, red and purple. The plant attracts bees, birds and butterflies.

I saw this bright flower growing on a low bush along a path at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. I like the way some veins in its leaf are also pink. I have not seen the flower before.

Please say if you can name it for me.

I wish you a sunny weekend.🌷

p.s.Thank you very much to Christa Christa Annarumma for naming the flower: I have to try to remember it now! - found online:

A medium-sized pallid and delicately-patterned sandgrouse. Pale and sandy overall. Males have a subtle pattern on upperparts while females are thinly spotted. Lacks breast bands, unlike Pin-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouse. Spotted Sandgrouse has an elongated rear compared to the similar Crowned Sandgrouse’s medium-length pin-tail projections. In flight note the strong contrast in its two-toned underwings. Flight call is a characteristic “Waka! Waka!” Favors sandy or stony desert plains where it breeds on the ground. Congregates to drink in waterholes in the morning, often flies long distances back and forth in large flocks.

We had to stay in the van when these birds arrived as they are very shy and would have taken off immediately. Not the easiest way to take a good photo, but one takes what one can get :)

Okay, maybe not quite taupe, but "Orange & Gray" would have messed up the alliteration.

Oh, and by the way - new camera. Olympus OM-D EM-5 MkIII. I'm not replacing the full-frame, but I think it will make a nice lightweight, packable travel camera for those trips when photography is a little further down the agenda...

Wouldn't normally frame a 'scape like this but in this case...Still not sure.Frame is actually just a color cast alteration on what came out the camera.

This, too, is from the archives, taken from my favorite garden, Point Defiance Park, located in Tacoma, Washington. If you've never been, and you happen to be in the area, I definitely recommend it! Such a large, beautiful rose garden. There's other things to see besides: There's other gardens, there's the zoo and aquarium, there's a five-mile drive with a beach, and there's many, many hiking trails throughout. Definitely something for your bucket list! Hope y'all enjoy!
