Pattern: Parterre from Australian Homespun Magazine's Garden Issue (#87; Vol.11 No.8)
Fabrics: Tula Pink's Plume
I love the quilt top but I don't think I'll be able to make another HST for awhile. I did make some adjustments to the pattern and used larger pieces and some flying geese blocks where I could to cut down on the already intensive piecing. The HSTs are 2" finished and there were a lot of them.
Made this tote to give to Julie tomorrow. She is having a birthday on Saturday. Julie is an amazing women, a single parent, and an awesome creative teacher. Over Spring Break, she will be going to see her son in Bahrain; he is in the Navy.
I used Tula Pink's fabric in Nest and Flutterby. Also used vintage reproduction fabric.
Barbara haven't forgotten about you.
Hexagon Quilt top is all done! Used a Plume Jelly Roll and white yardage.

A shot in the sun (I was behind the quilt and didn't know there was shade going over it!)

This is the quilt I sent to Kelly (redcleo) as part of the mini quilt in a bag swap. She sent me a charm pack from Tula Pink's neptune line. I thought fishing nets (or spiderwebs!). This was a lot of fun and I love the hexagon print. I almost kept it for myself!
Another option for the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap. Do you like this one, partner? It strikes me as being a little valentine-sy, but definitely usable all year 'round.
1" half square triangles make up the zigzag pattern, the binding is a Kaffe Fassett shot cotton in Merlot and the back is a brown print from AMH Innocent Crush.

After seeing a deluge of zig zag quilts awhile back, I decided to make one of my own. This one is headed to my nephew in Oregon.

9/29/10: I just found the sketch I made for this quilt and it shows the finished quilt to be about 50"x65" with HST blocks at 5" finished.
This is my completed Charming Neptune Wave quilt!
Title: Charming Neptune Wave
Pattern: New Wave by Elizabeth Hartman
Quilting: By Krista Withers. You can see a photo of the quilting here.
Fabrics: Prints are rom the lines "Neptune" and "Prince Charming", both by Tula Pink. The white fabric is Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton in white.
Backing: Frog Prince in Indigo from the Prince Charming line. Checkout the matching label on the back here.
Binding: Hex Box in Indigo from the Prince Charming Line
Batting: Hobb's Poly-down
Size: 99" tall x 102" wide
Started: January 6, 2012
Completed: May 18, 2012
I had some 1/2 yard cuts of Neptune in my stash and when Prince Charming came out I knew that I wanted to use the two lines together. The New Wave pattern seemed perfect -- the pieces are large enough that they can show off the prints and each fabric is showcased really well.
I purchased an acrylic template for the pattern from TabSlot. It made cutting the pieces quick and easy -- I pieced the top in a single (long) day.
I made a few small changes to the pattern. I made the quilt 12 columns wide rather than 11 since you can cut 12 wedges from the yardage that's required. Also, I added an extra white row of wedges to the top and bottom before squaring up the quilt to avoid having to trim away any of the precious Neptune. These two thing make the quilt huge -- it is big enough for a king-size bed (and it made it really hard to take pictures of!)
This quilt was so precious that I knew I wanted to send it out to be professionally quilted. I had "met" Krista Withers in a quilting bee we were in together so she came to mind first. I asked her to do whatever she felt was best for the quilt as long as it was spectacular and what she did is incredible. The quilting is perfect.
I can't believe that I now get to sleep under this every night -- it's almost too special to use.
Blocks sewn together. It measures 42" x 45" without borders as I reduced the block size to 75%.
Just needs borders now!

Here's a little quilt that I've recently finished! I've called it Get Stacked and it's made using prints from Tula Pink's Nest collection as well as Kona Coal.
