This funny little cub ran away with the fish then ran back to where Mom and Tuffs were, then took off again, very excited to have its own fish. Along the way It would trip, get back up and go again, you could feel the sheer excitement of this little guy.
In memory of my Dad who passed away 11 years ago this September.
He would have been 76 today
Happy Birthday Dad
This is a re-edit of an image from last year with texture from borealnz (Jill)
Jasper often takes hunting trips. Hunting for fun that is. This time he bagged himself a Tuffy Oddball. Enough fun to feed the whole family!

As the last taste of sweets, is sweetest last,
Writ in remembrance more than things long past.

Stetson has been a delightful, dapper young pup and is so affectionate and smart. He loves his grizzly but I am afraid this grizzly will not last too long. Another "Tuffy" toy that has proven not be so tough.
Back in March I posted a picture of these two males, Samson (15) & Tuffy (39), getting together for the first time. Samson was born here 15 years ago, and they are just now being allowed to interact with each other. They don't do it every day, so it's been cool to see during our last two visits. HFF!
My Boy Bandit looking at his Tuffy Toy with anticipation of it being thrown. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Without a doubt, on of my favorite year-round birds is the Tufted Titmouse. This is one of a brood who surprised us this fall as this species breeds only once a year, and in the spring.
Thursday was the first day in ages that was perfect for an outdoor adventure, so we took the girls to the zoo. The animals were happy about it too and were quite active. According to the volunteer at the elephant enclosure, this was the first time these two males have spent time together. Samson was born at the zoo and turns 15 on Sunday, and Tuffy is 40. They were really enjoying each other while we were there, so hopefully they will get to do this more often. HFF!

Jasper's new Tuffy Oddball is getting a workout. Of course Jasper is the team captain so his Oddball takes a particularly hard beating. It's holding up really well though - not a stitch broken
One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to master negative scanning with a camera at home. My attempts will be posted here to share progress and as a reference for myself. The purpose is, in part, to share my journey with others who might have the same interest. All serious questions are welcome and will be answered. All pointers and advice are both encouraged and welcome.
Technical information:
Camera: Zenza Bronica ETRSI
Lens: Zenzanon PE 50mm f/2.8
Film: Kodak Portra 400
Processing: Richard Photo Lab
Scanning: Digitized with a Fujifilm X-T5, a Sigma 105mm macro lens (Canon mount), Fringer EF-XF autofocus lens adapter, the Valoi 360 film holder system, and Negmaster software
Our first cat. Got him about a year after we got married. We were renovating an old home and he would follow me everywhere I went while doing projects. He got hit by a car and had to be put down because his spine was severed. We think he might have been deaf because he'd never come when called and maybe that's why he stayed so close. Maybe he never heard the car.
Tuffy is one of a group of foster kittens we refer to as the New Year's Eve fosters. They were dropped of at the shelter one New Year's Eve and we took them into foster care. Tuffy was still a bottle baby when this photo was taken. Tuffy and all of his littermates have since been adopted.
On a recent trip to Astoria I spied the unmistakable shape of a bow and mast in a boatyard the distance. I speculated it might be a wreck or a mariners' monument.
Yesterday's errands brought us closer to the mystery object. Even then I couldn't make out what it was, though I did establish that it is behind a fence and gate with conspicuous signs telling people like me with no business there to keep out.
Ultimately the object turned out to be a large and most unconventional ship that is still under construction. What's odd about it are the proportions. The bow is tall and large enough for a ship for at least 100 feet in length. And yet it is nowhere near that long. The eye goes from the bow, traces the sweep of the bow to the point where it meets the ship's side and - bang! - there's the stern.
My hypothesis is that this is a tugboat in the making. Assuming construction resumes, sooner or later a tall superstructure will rise just aft of that mast.
My gut tells me this boat will not handle well under any conditions. I'd hate to be on it in heavy seas. But why would anyone spend so much time and money cutting and assembling sheet metal if the finished product wasn't usable? I have to give the unknown designer, builder and owner the benefit of the doubt.
The lack of any commercial signage at the building site makes me think this is a home-built job. We shall see.
Interestingly, the next piece to be added to this sculpture is already at the site. It's the top of the mast, and it can be found fully assembled on the ground at about the midpoint of the ship.
