A review of the MCU GotG 5 pack, Disney exclusive
TL;DR: Great stuff if you missed out
Gamora- Heels are never the easiest to balance. Face is stoic, I would’ve preferred slightly angry. She comes with sword and retracted sword for accessories. Both are pretty cool and retracted sword fits into a side holster well. (Legends GotG Vol2 reissue)
Rocket- tiny figures with 18pts of articulation and two different molded blasters (I don’t think this figure could wield other weapons/large guns unfortunately). Head can only rotate, like Ursa Major. Mouth doesn’t close. (Legends GotG Vol2 reissue)
StarLord- legs are kind of basic, jacket limits range of motion slightly. He comes with two identical blasters that port into his legs when standing in vanilla pose. He also has two head options, both are really good. I’d say the Pratt face is almost reminiscent of the GotG Game version. No jetpack accessories or sculpts- same for Walkman. (Legends Ego 2 pack reissue)
Drax the Destroyer- possibly my favorite of the lot, surprisingly. Normal articulation with pins and ab crunch. He comes with his twin identical daggers that can be stared in boot holsters. Face sculpt is pretty great for this fig. (Legends GotG Vol2 reissue)
Groot(s)- two tiny unarticulated groots are fine. Big Groot is substantial in size. His sculpt hinders articulation slightly. His face is a little derpy, a serious expression may’ve worked better. (Legends TRU exclusive reissue)
All of the sculpts and paint apps are good. Packaging is cool. Pinned-joints are going to look dated soon. When comparing this set to what Hasbro is asking for the MojoWorld 3.5 pack, I think this isn’t an insane price point. Having missed out on comic and previous iterations of this team, I’m happy to have this in my collection.
Cosmic shelf is looking much better with this addition!

This is the definitive Wolverine for me. I dig the vibrant colors. It hits the 90’s nostalgia for the Saturday morning animated show. Tiger stripe costume FTW. Very happy that I’ll never need another version of this character.

This is the definitive Wolverine for me. I dig the vibrant colors. It hits the 90’s nostalgia for the Saturday morning animated show. Tiger stripe costume FTW. Very happy that I’ll never need another version of this character.
Accessories are fine for a meme set, not the greatest. I’m only here for the core teeth-bearing claws-out Wolverine!
Had Omega Red in box since last December waiting for this pre-order to come in.

Apathy-Man delivers a brick message to Spidey
Finally got around to opening William Baker Sandman from the Retro Carded SM line. Hefty figure fore his size, very cool accessories, and a great character to have in the line- and now on the shelf.
I’ve had some issue with keeping his head and weaponized limbs on without popping off. I’ve had him in various poses on my desk for a couple weeks, and he’s given me a number of falls regularly- I think I’ll have him displayed on a flight stand like pictured.
Integrated suit is iconic from NWH, and while I try and avoid MCU figs, I can’t imagine a time I won’t look back fondly on that film. HasbroPulse power days sale made it an easy pick up. My only ish is that it should’ve come with wall crawling hands as well.

I like the comic look for any particular Marvel figure over the MCU look, but the line is beginning to blur in 2022. That is a very good thing.
Both of these figures looked great as soon as I saw them released. Thor with the great colors. Gorr with minimal color, but great sculpt and Bale likeness.
Minor gripes: Thor’s eyes in the helm look a little off. I would consider filling in with a white or black paint pen. Stormbreaker is really thin towards the middle and bends with the weight of its head. Gorr falls on me fairly consistently with rubbery ankles.
Very solid figures, happy to add to the collection and hope that this is a harbinger of symbiotes in the MCU!

Retro-Carded Shocker looks way better with panel-lining!
I went with a brown Gundam marker. My first time modifying an action figure, and I made my share of mistakes, but a little rubbing alcohol and persistence paid off.
This figure really should have come with those lines painted! Considering doing the same with Scorpion, but that figure’s sculpt has finer lines.
What do you think? Painting yours? Passing on Shocker entirely?

Everyone was moving. I could only get a 60th of a second. So this sat in the the back of the drawer until today.(outtake)

My first look at the super posable retro carded Spidey buck with Ben Reilly, and it really is an amazing figure. I get it, this is the type of articulation we’ve all wanted for Spider-Man, and I can’t wait for the two-pack with articulated toes to drop
Kro is a figure I knew I wanted to pick up before The Eternals came out. I’m not really an MCU collector to begin with, but this figure is a great monster to have as an adversary for just about anyone. A great hefty figure, and lots of tendrils/tentacles that will definitely be making their way into symbiote shoots to come

“Fundamentalist”: Word Origin & History
fundamentalist. 1920. in the religious sense (as is fundamentalism), from fundamental + -ist. Coined in Amer.Eng. to name a movement among Protestants c.1920-25 based on scriptural inerrancy, etc., and associated with William Jennings Bryan, among others. Fundamentalist is said (by George McCready Price) to have been first used in print by Curtis Lee Laws, editor of "The Watchman Examiner," a Baptist newspaper. The movement may have roots in the Presbyterian General Assembly of 1910, which drew up a list of five defining qualities of "true believers" which other evangelicals published in a mass-circulation series of books called "The Fundamentals." A World's Christian Fundamentals Association was founded in 1918. The words reached widespread use in the wake of the contentious Northern Baptist Convention of 1922 in Indianapolis. "Fundamentalism is a protest against that rationalistic interpretation of Christianity which seeks to discredit supernaturalism. This rationalism, when full grown, scorns the miracles of the Old Testament, sets aside the virgin birth of our Lord as a thing unbelievable, laughs at the credulity of those who accept many of the New Testament miracles, reduces the resurrection of our Lord to the fact that death did not end his existence, and sweeps away the promises of his second coming as an dream. It matters not by what name these modernists are known. The simple fact is that, in robbing Christianity of its supernatural content, they are undermining the very foundations of our holy religion. They boast that they are strengthening the foundations and making Christianity more rational and more acceptable to thoughtful people. Christianity is rooted and grounded in supernaturalism, and when robbed of supernaturalism it ceases to be a religion and becomes an exalted system of ethics." "A new word has been coined into our vocabulary two new words 'Fundamentalist' and 'Fundamentalism.' They are not in the dictionaries as yet unless in the very latest editions.
