... l'Arc de triomphe, dont la construction, décidée par l'empereur Napoléon I , débuta en 1806 et s'acheva en 1836 sous Louis-Philippe
A shot of the Arc de Triomphe at night, taken from between the cars. Kids, don't try this at home ;)
I took this image back in the summer of 2016. It was a short trip together with my girlfriend who was willing to wait :)
Thanks for watching!

The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues.
As seen from the Eiffel Tower.
The cranes around the structure were a little bit of a disappointment - especially when we visited the monument itself.
The construction was due to the preparations for the monument to be wrapped - which it currently is for another week.

The Arc de Triomphe honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.

Now here's a trick for you. Take a shot of Paris's Arc de Triomphe with no cars! I shot this at midnight and even then I had to squeeze this between traffic that was fast and furious.
You can't do this at sunset, there are just too many cars, busses and trucks. There are of course ways to remove the traffic but that is a headache. This shot is sootc (straight out of the camera) AND I did manage to luck upon a crescent moon to the right of the Arc. I'm using a 24mm lens so it is pretty small but I did get it and a star or two.
The Roman Volubilis was one of the capitals of Mauritania Tingitana (one of the Roman provinces).
The Roman occupation was from the 1st century BC until the 3rd. After the decline of the Roman Empire it is believed to have been abandoned, but Volubilis continued to be inhabited. From the end of the 3rd century the Berbers lived and lived there in harmony together with Syrians and Jews.
The Arab conquest was in the 7th century. In the 8th century, after the foundation of Fez, Volubilis was abandoned and its total decline began and with it, its forgetfulness.

Sitting prominently in the centre of the famous roundabout Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, The Arch de Triomphe is a national monument honouring those who fought and died for France during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. Beneath lies the Tomb of the Unknown Solider from World War I.
Inaugurated in 1836, the structure stands some 50m tall and took over twenty years to build!
One of the most famous monuments in Paris, the Arc de Triomphe. I went to France before the attacks and got to see how beautiful this country is. Paris is a special place and it always will be. I look forward to visiting again.
The famous monument of Paris is seen here on a nice dusk and full of light trails! A wonderful piece of engineering and history, preserved at end of the also worldwide known Champs-Élysées avenue.

The Arc de Triomphe Paris, the most monumental of all triumphal arches, was built between 1806 and 1836. Even though there were many modifications from the original plans, reflecting political changes and power struggles, the Arch still retains the essence of the original concept which was a powerful, unified ensemble.
The Arc de Triomphe stands at the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the "Place de l'Étoile". It’s located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. The arches whole decorative style is entirely of the tradition of sculpture from the first half of the nineteenth century.
The triumphal arch is in honor of those who fought for France, in particular, those who fought during the Napoleonic Wars. Engraved on the inside and at the top of the arch are all of the names of the generals and wars fought. There are inscriptions in the ground underneath the vault of the arch which include the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I where the Memorial Flame burns and have made the Arc de Triomphe Paris a revered patriotic site.*
