When I was a kid I used to beg my dad for a flocked Christmas tree. I always thought they looked so pretty. When I moved to Sequim it was easy to drive 20 minutes up to the hills and see beautiful flocked trees.

This wonderful tree is on the Dominican Sister's property in the Santa Cruz Mountains - Marywood.

It's all gone now. I'll miss the shade (but I won't miss all the mess)

More than 17,000 native trees have been planted in the Great Lakes district of NSW. Thirty-four different species of trees now cover 18.6 ha. We are collaborating with the Great Lakes City Council to revegetate three main areas to restore degraded land and improve water quality in the Wallamba and Myall Rivers which flow into the Great Lakes.

The land is a wealth of natural assets, including state-listed endangered ecological communities and threatened species, including the Koala, the Wallum Froglet and the Black-necked Stork.

This project underscores the role Greenfleet can play in improving water quality, as we bring revegetation to mainstream infrastructure

planning.

Soaking up some sun to keep warm.

The Survival Tree

It's blooming right now. A mass of blooms on what must be a very old large tree on an old farmstead along Augusta Highway, Route 25 at Princeton, S.C. Couldn't get too close as gate is closed and no trespassing signs posted and may not be occupied? Initially I thought it was a horsechestmut, but have dismissed that and now my best guess is Catalpa. If so, I'd expect it to be Catalpa bignonioides - Southern Catalpa.

Another visit to the festival of light at mount stewart, this time using my canon 17-40mm lens as i wasn't happy with the sigma 10-20mm. Think these ones are definitely better. Enjoy

My daughter found it on a tree stump in our yard, where the bark had recently been removed. She was delighted because it was pink (there were some gray parts too). The nodes are about the size of peas.

It's probably odd of me to be posting a picture of Bahrain's Tree of Life - a tree that somehow manages to thrive miles away from the closest freshwater aquifer - at a time when the country is falling apart. Still, it's nearly as iconic as the Pearl Roundabout, and to my mind more important.
