So this is one of my favourite tree shots, taken at Blenheim Palace of all places. What a grand old tree, it looks so tree'ish!
I did post a horribly HDR'd version here way back 10 years ago but wanted to share it without the OTT HDR edit.
Happy Thursday from me and the trees :)

This tree at the Quiraing on Skye must be one of the most photographed trees in Scotland. It's certainly very photogenic. So much so that it's hard not to take the classic shot. I did however head over to see if I could capture some nice clouds just before sunrise too.
Detail of a tree stump, found in Munich's Fröttmaninger Heide, a former military training area, nowadays it is a nature reserve.
Here's that tree stump with it's surroundings.

Trees in winter
With the arrival of winter, and often at the end of autumn, a new problem arises with trees. This specific "winter" problem is associated with the accumulation of wet snow and the formation of frost on the branches and trunks of trees. "Freezing rains" - phenomena occur under certain combinations of weather conditions: sleet, wind, fog, sudden changes in temperature with a "transition through 0 degrees". Such a significant load on the branches and trunks of trees can lead to emergency situations:
1. Breaking off and collapse of large branches. Typical for poplar, aspen, willow, linden, oak. To a lesser extent for pines and elms.
2. Breaking the forks of co-dominant trunks. Most often found in the above tree species with V-shaped forks. Less typical for U-shaped forks of birch and spruce.
3. Bending under the weight of snow and ice, with possible breaking of the trunks of inclined trees.
I found the trees without obvious problems :)
Stapleford Forest, there must be thousands of trees here, all maintained by the Forestry Commission. Some nice walks within the forest.

A bit of a big crop but I liked the pose.
At White Lake, the bluebirds share airspace with other types of birds and this morning there were plenty of tree swallows circling about. While the bluebirds were off gathering supplies the tree swallows would visit.
Week 1 - First photo of my 2017 52 photo challenge. A snowy apple tree at the bottom of my driveway. This is the same tree as in my "Bad Apples" photo.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a black and white day at Color my World Daily and we celebrate Sliders Sunday. Since I had so much fun taking pictures for the tree bark theme at Looking close on Friday, I decide to add one more photo on this subject. As you can see, this is a whole picture of my tree bark pencil. They are super cool as photo props but unfortunately, those are a pain in the a**ss to sharpen. The wood (honestly I don’t even know if those are made from real wood … or some kind of Chinese magic super resistant wood look alike plastic…) is super hard and I even tried to use an exacto knife and it was almost impossible to cut… However, my pencils are here to stay since they make such an awesome props.
Have a beautiful day ! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!
FYI: because of my renovation project I have to, constantly, move our stuff from one room to another on a very short notice !! So once again, I have to apologize for not answering your comments… I will try to catch up very shortly but for the next few days I’m afraid I will be M.I.A. (missing in action) !!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!
Swallows symbolize anything from good luck, safe travels, happiness, and positivity. They are very social and people-friendly.
The bark on a London plane tree has a distinctive gray mottled appearance that develops when it exfoliates, revealing white, brown, and creamy yellow colors. This distinctive camouflage pattern makes it easy to identify a London plane tree from a distance.
The bark of the planetree sheds because of the tree’s rapid growth. The thin bark doesn’t expand as quickly as the tree, and large flakes of bark drop off every year.

Another in my intermittent postings of trees surviving in harsh conditions. This stunted juniper is growing out of a rock ledge at the Canyonlands Overlook, Utah.
Hope everyone has a good Monday. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.
