STORY
The two main urban areas of La Palma - Santa Cruz in the east and the aridane valley with Los Llanos in the west - are divided by a 1400m high and 10km long mountain wall called Cumbre Nueva.
It’s famous for looking cool - especially when the „cascade de nubes“ - the famous cloudfall happens.
I really like to spent my time there at the nearby area of the Refugio el Pilar where you have a very nice view of the Cumbre Nueva and the Westside of the Island. It’s also very exciting with lots of old volcanos, lava fields and black earth inbetween a nice Forrest.
In the Night of August 17th I was sneaking around in this area to take some Milky Way Photos and I hoped to see the Cloudfall at night. Unfortunately I had to wait one more month to get that Photo. This night I catched a nice green glowing Perseids Meteor above the Cumbre Nueva and the northern constellations including the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy.
You can also see the light pollution of La Palmas urban areas despite their laws of protecting the night sky. It took me quite a while to take this tracked panorama of 24 images because I had to repeat many shots due to passing cars which ruined my work.
