Glorious Panchachuli peaks

The Panchachuli peaks are a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks lying at the end of the eastern Kumaon region, near Dugtu Village Darma valley. The peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 metres to 6,904 metres. They form the watershed between the Gori and the Darmaganga valleys.

After we got back from the Mills Creek Falls trail, dehydrated and famished, we ate at the cafe at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. Then it was back in the car to drive up Lassen Peak Highway (CA-89) through the park.

Along the way, we stopped; first at the Bumpass Hell parking lot, then at Emerald Lake, and finally at Lake Helen--named for the first woman to summit Lassen Peak and supposedly the snowiest place in California. Who knows if that is true. After all, you can't always believe what you read on the Internet.

Kinkakuji (金閣寺, Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Formally known as Rokuonji, the temple was the retirement villa of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and according to his will it became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect after his death in 1408. Kinkakuji was the inspiration for the similarly named Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), built by Yoshimitsu's grandson, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, on the other side of the city a few decades later.

I opted for one of the ranger-led tours. I suppose it could have added some additional insights if it weren't for the fact that the group was huge and the ranger very soft spoken.

Appleton is a city in Outagamie (mostly), Calumet, and Winnebago counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Neither of us had ever been to Lake Berryessa, so that just meant that it was time to go and explore.

We ended up on the "rougher" side of the lake, with all the resorts with their amenties (like boat rentals) on the other side. So we instead drove through Pope Valley on the way to Napa to reward ourselves for our adventuring spirit and back-roads dead reckoning with some wine.

Here is a cool and relatively unknown place in San Francisco. Can anyone figure out where this mysterious location is?

I went in here with my dad while we were looking for cool photo-ops. We weren't so sure we were allowed in this place, but we just busted in quickly for a shot before anybody said anything.
