We started pretty early in the morning to be at the spot when the first soft rays of light were kissing the stone walls of the magic castle. As the flag was fluttering in the wind, it was a struggle to stabilize the camera. But as everyone knows, when the flag is raised, the knight is at home. Thanks to Nicky and Patrick for joining me on the trip. Greetings to Barbara and Roman, two fellow photographers we met on location.

From down in the valley you might not see the light. But let me tell you, it is there, rising over the horizon right now. The right peak shows Merkur with the Merkur tower on top, left slope is the Battert cliff. Have been on that trip with Nicky back in October, 2019.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

suspended animation

possibly a perfect imitation

of what was then to see.

A frozen memory in synthetic colour

or black and white instead,

fantasy dreams in magazines

become imbedded inside my head.

Trekked following the Urubamba river to our first night's camp, greeted with a fantastic view this cliff, which would be the western pass to a view of Sahuasiray mountain, covered in snow at 5818m.

On those days in April we explored some viewpoints on Hornberg, located southeast of Schwäbisch Gmünd. This gave us a great view on a remarkable group of three small mountains (Drei Kaiserberge) namely Stuifen (757 m), Hohenstaufen (684 m) and Rechberg (708 m) (from left to right).

This panorama view over the Swabian Alps was taken from viewpoint Aasrücken right on the country road between Lenglingen and Hohenstaufen. The small towns from left to right are Wäschenbeuren, Maitis and Lenglingen. Was a fun evening to shoot with Stella, Nicky and Desi - thanks folks!

Trakking in the Cancha Cancha valley, following the Urubamba river towards our first nights camp, where we'd rest before the next days chalange. A trek up Canchacanchajasa , a 4,987-metre-high mountain pass, where we'd be greeted with a glorious view of Sahuasiray mountains.
