"Can't you see the lights they're shining

to lead you back again

My heartbeats can be a silver lining

just listen well to them..."

Words from the song by Ane Brun/ José González- "Worship"

Had a direct hit here at my home in St Augustine Florida, USA from Hurricane Matthew. A large tree fell on my dwelling. Actually, very little damage to Our trailer. Me and Trailer Dog, stayed here through the storm and are just very tired from the prep work, post storm survival moves and now cleaning up one hell of a mess. Thanks to friends who were advising, thinking and praying for us. We felt the love and covering of Grace...

St Augustine, Florida, Mother Ocean and the beaches have all been through this before. Beach communities are very resilient and we all know the risks and sacrifices that come with living on a giant peninsula between two Oceans.

Thanks always, much love, Tom and Trailer Dog 🐬😎🐶🐬

With lyrics so appropriate for the day.

Airstream amongst the ruins - in the Dogpatch all alone. Who lives here, and why?

Do not disturb, the towel is hanging form the door.

Revisiting a location with different lighting conditions is always fun. I was planning on star trails, but the clouds had a different plan. Added incandescent light to the front and red light to the inside.

Venice is a city in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. Venice consists of a large section of mainland, as well as Venice Island just off the coast. The city is located south of Nokomis and north of Englewood. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 20,748. It is noted for its large snowbird population and was voted as a top 10 Happiest Seaside Towns by Coastal Living.

Venice is a principal city of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The area of Venice was originally the home of native people who lived more than 12,000 years ago. The 1800s is when the area saw the first wave of settlers. Venice was first known as Horse and Chaise because of a carriage-like tree formation that marked the spot for fisherman. In the 1870s, Robert Rickford Roberts established a homestead near a bay that bears his name today, Roberts Bay. Frank Higel arrived in Venice in 1883 with his wife and six sons. He purchased land in the Roberts' homestead for $2,500, equivalent to $69,000 in 2019, to set up his own homestead. Higel established a citrus operation involving the production of several lines of canned citrus items, such as jams, pickled orange peel, lemon juice, and orange wine. Higel established a post office in 1888 with the name Venice because of its likeness to the canal city in Italy where he spent his childhood.

During the Florida land boom of the 1920s, Fred H. Albee, an orthopedic surgeon renowned for his bone-grafting operations, bought 112 acres (45 ha) from Bertha Palmer to develop Venice. He hired John Nolen to plan the city and create a master plan for the streets. Albee sold the land to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and retained Nolen as a city planner. The first portions of the city and infrastructure were constructed in 1925–26.

Previously this space was a large dinette.

New trailer desk is installed. It's nice having windows on three sides for panoramic views when I'm camping. Ikea LINMON table top, 2 OLOV adjustable legs, and then two angle braces to attach it to the wall on one side.

Also, I added a corner cabinet to store things in. For this cabinet, I reused the old door fronts from the cabinets that were part of the dinette. I then built the rest of the cabinet.

Finally, I got a small folding table and folding chair for when I have guests or need more workspace.

Though containing a population of about 130 residents, Mitchell is considered a ghost town. The town is in Wheeler County. To me, it seemed like a bit of a cross between Santa Cruz, California, and Jerome, Arizona. Honestly, I think this would be sort of a cool place to live.

Dormir ces vaisseaux

Dont l'humeur est vagabonde;

See on the canals

Those vessels sleeping.

Their mood is adventurous;

(oh that water view...)

(oh those sweet Linden trees)

She had a Traditional house but abandoned it in favour of pared-down life in the woods! My friend Lyric caught herself a fine trailer in a good spot in the Wilderness Point region.

I love how she outfitted it. Using the camper table and bankette seating provided in the Linden Homes package, and using a few essentials from Soy and Trompe L'oeil and What Next (and Nutmeg, it looks like), she's got it all covered.The interior is all the storage she'd need, plus sheltered seating and dining. Coffee, eggs, toast, a soup simmering on the wood-burning stove. Mattress under the stars. The camp-fire and seating outside is where it's at, really, whenever we visit.

I helped with the landscaping but again, to be heavy-handed with landscaping on a plot so carefully crafted by the Moles in Second Life is to miss the point entirely of the Bellisseria homes on offer -- so much has already been done and provided, and the plots are just beautiful as they are.

I love visiting this trailer. It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't; it's perfectly self-sustaining, functional, comfortable, cozy, protective, liberating, and so impeccably clean! The home away from home is just one more "happy place" to retreat to in a December otherwise filled with ice and treacherous weather.
