Illinois River barge handling facility, Lacon Illinois. This is some of my cheesy eye candy type stuff. Even Lee Friedlander did a little of this Kodak type stuff. Hey, the calendar people need images. :-)
This old rusted tow truck looks like it grabbed a car and got stuck in the field and time!

"Tugs have been towing aggregate-laden barges out of British Columbia’s Pitt River and on down the Fraser River since the days of wooden scows and steam-powered tugs. Since the earliest days the boats have had to contend with the railway bridge about three miles upstream from the Pitt’s confluence with the Fraser River. Over the generations, skippers have learned a lot about the tides and river currents that challenged the old steam power and continue to challenge the modern diesel-powered tugs. This is not stuff that is taught in maritime training schools. It is knowledge that is learned by making the run with an experienced captain and finally by new captains feeling their way into the job."
If you get stuck in the sand, mud or salt, this wonderful woman and her husband will come drag you out. Just make sure you have a credit card ready.
This tow was 8 miles from a paved road. Far outside AAA and other Roadside assistance programs coverage area.

Even een kleine reeks over kolenvervoer bij Enerco in Born in 2019 - nr 5
Na vertrek van emplacement Born trekt Dloc 226 118 de 15 Eanos wagens over de enkel spoor diesel lijn naar emplacement Sittard - eerst slingert het door het dorpje Born en komt dan op weg naar Limbricht door een landelijk gedeelte waar ter hoogte van Guttecoven bij een graanveld in volle bloei.
Railtraxx Diesel 266 118 komt met de 15 Eanos wagens beladen met kolen langs Guttecoven op weg naar Limbricht en uiteindelijk het emplacement van Sittard.

After leaving Born stabling yard Dloc 226 118 tows the 15 Eanos wagons over the single track diesel line to Sittard stabling yard - first the line runs through Born and then passes the rural area near Guttecoven on its way to Limbricht along a wheat field in full bloom.
Railtraxx Diesel 266 118 tows the 15 coal loaded Eanos along Guttecoven running from Born stabling yard to Limbricht and ending at Sittard stabling yard.
