Our last trip to the mud cobra field was a wet one.
Sure there was the usual Murphy traps and
stinky stuff scattered around for the dogs
to roll in. But none of that matters when
your having way to much fun ;-)------
Thank You.

Yesterday around 3:PM I had a
short discussion with no# 1 wife.
Told her that for my sanity and of
course for all of the dogs sanity
we need to take a short ride.
Now I was fully prepared for any and
all shots that were expected to come
flying across the bow. But surprisingly
none were fired. No# 1 showed true
compassion for her monkey brain
husband and only asked if I was
going to be ok or not. Being
in shock I stumbled over
my words at first but
soon rose to the
occasion and
stated my
case ;-)
I told no# 1 wife that I'm not feeling
any better, but more importantly
I'm not feeling any worse either.
I went on to tell her if I stayed home
my condition would be the same.
Furthermore once we arrived
over at the mud cobra field
we would head straight
for the shelter where I
would stay and the
dogs could run.
And if things took a turn for the worse
at any point we would just come home.
That seemed to set her at ease so we
quickly loaded-up and set off for the
mud cobra field. FYI, it was 93 F so
I knew the dogs would stay close.
Now I had to be truthful to myself
and if indeed things started to
feel wrong the plan was to
turn around and come
back home, no joke.
But surprisingly things went along fairly well.
Oh sure I was being extra cautious and there
was obviously some discomfort but way more
important was we were out enjoying fresh air !
As expected the dogs stayed close to the pink
water bowl and took many breaks in the shade.
Our stay in the m/c field took up most of an hour.
And yes a lot of that hour was spent in the shade.
As mr heiney often says ---
A tired dog is a good dog.
Soon after arriving back at base camp
the dogs were fed, watered, and put
to bed. Same same goes for me too.
One more thing ---
We didn't stay at the shelter for long.
Way to hot there so we moved to
the south west corner where
there's more shade and
it's way more cooler.
So there ya go, a little more info.
Took a chance & did a little dance ;-)
Thank You.

Photo No# 1 of 2.
5:43AM we had arrived at the m/c field.
Real daylight starts at 6:AM. But that
doesn't stop the dogs from racing
around and checking everything
out. That's really important too.
Once the daylight was better I
took the scooter/sidecar down
closer the the real flooded area.
Which is just about everywhere !
As shown in photo no# 2 it was
real sketchy getting in and also
real sketchy getting out as well.
But while in the mud cobra field
there's a small area that is high
ground and that's where I kept
the scooter on. It would be ab-
solute insanity to wonder off
in any other direction as all
the side isles are flooded 2.
Thank You.

Lots of stuff has been happening sense
the last upload. Some good, some not.
First notice the high waterline on the
palm bows. See where the dusty gray
meets the green. Well that is how deep
the water got when our place was under
water a few days ago. The river has been
up and down as monsoon rains have hit
our area. In fact Thailand is suffering from
the same storms flooding many highways
and buildings all over the place. This photo
was taken around noon today as there was
a break in the storms and I could hear work
being done by an excavator over at the mud
cobra field. So I did a little dance and took a
little chance and went for it. Mr Murphy setup
many traps but we out smarted him once again.
Even where the bike is right now Mr Murphy
had laid out a trap, but I just put it in 1st gear
twisted the wick and ran along side for a few
feet then jumped on while still in motion and
off we go. Plus I have 6 tow straps on board,
a come-along that now works and extra rope.
It's midnight and the power has come back on
but also thunder and lightning is landing real
close so the power most likely will go out !
I'll finish this post up tomorrow morning.
OK here we are on Saturday morning and
the river has once again come over the
banks. Not as bad as the other day but
bad enough to keep a close eye on
it. Electricity has come back on
so I'm trying to get this up-
loaded asap for you ;-)
Snakes, centipedes, scorpions and spiders
have all turned into a big problem as they
scamper and slither into our homes ;-0-
And lets not forget all the ants too !!!
Other then that life is fine, dogs
are healthy and having fun in
the water. Driveway is now
passable but still tricky.
Not being able to get out to the temple
and give all the dogs their injections
is just going to wait until we can.
I have all the stuff needed so
it's out of my control and
up to the weather gods.
Cleaning up around our place will
take a life time to accomplish,
maybe even longer then
that. But here's the
cool part IMO.
It's given us the chance to do a real
cleaning inside of the house. Even
found a couple of things I forgot
about. So that's good, right ?
Thanks for your support and comments.
Living in the jungle has it's up & down
moments but overall I like it a lot ;-)

That's right we made it to the mud cobra field.
Lots of rain all night and it was doing a light
rain when we left for the field. No# 1 said
not a good time to go, so we went ;-)---
The dirt/trail/road that gets us to the entrance
of the mud cobra field has never been so
difficult in the past ! My boots already
had mud and water in them before
we got to the 90 degree left turn.
And once we did the 90 degree turn it got worse.
But I kept the wick twisted and never slowed down.
That was a wild e-ticket ride ;-)-
Notice that two of the tow straps are already missing.
They had zip ties holding them in and the ride was
so violent the zip ties broke. They are the big
zip ties too, like I said way violent ride ;-0-
And yes I walked all the way back to retrieve them.
That's like 400 meters maybe closer to 500 meters.
Anyway the dogs raced around for a good hour
having the time of their lives getting soaked
and covered with lots of stinky sticky mud.
Getting out wasn't quite as bad cuz when I walked
back to find the tow straps I found a slightly
better way to do our exit. Wasn't
great but good enough.
Once home the dogs, scooter and
myself were all hosed down an fed.
Thank you for your support.
We can't do this without you.

OK I'll walk ya through this one ---
Sky was an angry gray when we left.
Thunder was coming up from the gulf.
And we were a tiny bit behind schedule.
But no big deal, the dogs want to run ;-)-
Yes we are stuck here, Murphy reached
out and grabbed the back tire just 4 fun.
Notice the tow strap is only loosely attached
to the canopy upright ? Good and here's why.
First step was give the hooligans more hot-dogs.
Keeps their little brains occupied while I'm busy.
Stretched out 2 tow straps, one goes around
the closest palm tree trunk, second is then
attached to the offending end of the bike.
The blue tube with the come-along inside
is retrieved and placed in a convenient
place. Now notice the rolled orange
tow strap on the back of the seat.
Now notice the handle at the back of the
seat. That handle is permanently attached
by the Honda factory and that is where the
tow strap will be attached. All of this is put
in place before the come-along is retrieved
from the blue tube and attached to the strap.
And most importantly the camera can be set
down freeing up my hands to do all the work.
Once the entire setup is ready it didn't take
long and the back tire is pulled free and we
are again, off on our morning adventure ;-)
Pumpkin Pie and Boney Baloney were the
first to throw up the white flag and want
to ride, no more running around ;-0
But of course Ninas dog The Monkey
was still good to go for another 23-
27 minutes + or -. Silly Dog :-)---
Eventually we did pack up and headed
for base camp before it started raining.
Did ya notice Pumpkin Pie is laughing at me ?
Thank You.

A standing salute for all past, present
and future military personnel ..............
As for the photo ---
We made it to the mud cobra field this morning.
The first road/path/trail had some deep potholes.
Once in the field everything is real dry and dusty.
The ground overall is extremely bumpy due to
the heavy tractor cleats leaving devits in the
mud when wet. Now it will shake all your
teeth out. So you must go really slow.
Zoomer, Boney and The Monkey are
all on board today. Pumpkin is still
under house arrest for awhile.
What you see here is really not a big deal
but it's also not a small deal either ;-0---
Tall grass impeded my forward progress !
Figured it would be much easier to just get
out the come-a-long and straps and pull
the scooter/sidecar out. No problem.
Saved my body from getting beat.
Now when we arrived back at base camp
nobody needed to be hosed down ;-)---
Final Send - Veterans Day.

OK, it's Sunday night right now and tomorrow
morning I'm heading on over to the small bike
shop in the small town next to our small village.
For a few months now I've had No Brakes
on the backend of the scooter/sidecar ;-0
And yes that has been a challenge but
everything around here is a challenge !
Sense the front brakes has been our
only stopping power they will be
checked out too. There's an
old Thai saying here ---
"Cheaper to buy a horn then new brakes"
Well now it's time for some new brakes ;-)
Thank You.

That's right just when you thought it was
safe to go play in the mud cobra field ;-0
Cruising along real slow in a rut filled area
when all the sudden my forward motion
came to an immediate stop ! Bad Bad !
Back tire is stuck between the high ridges
on a rather deep rut made by the tractor.
Also the center of the frame is what we
call, "High Centered." Murphy got me.
Funny thing is just last night I was
contemplating taking the come-
a-long out of the sidecar due
to it's weight. Good thing
that thought was not
followed up on.
Anyway the dogs had fun laughing at me
as they raced around playing grab ass ;-)
Furthermore ---
23 minutes later the drama had been
put to rest and the dogs were all
loaded into the sidecar then
we headed straight home.
So there ya go another small slice of jungle life.
Thank You.
