Bristol’s Bicentennial Torchbearer: Mary Ann Eisenbeiss Oct. 4, 2016.
The 65th County on the 92 County Indiana Bicentennial State Torch Relay Event, Elkhart County celebrated it on Tues., Oct. 4, 2016. It began at Mybrook Farm in Middlebury, Indiana and went through 5 communities for 52+ miles which took 5.5 hours. The opening program included the Torch Lighting and Milk Toast before the Torch Relay began. After the Torchbearers departed, a breakfast was served and tours of Mybrook Farm were held. The torchbearers then wound they way through Middlebury, Elkhart, Goshen, Wakarusa and Nappanee. While in Elkhart, the torch stopped at the Premier Arts Quilt Garden for a lighting of the 12-foot replica Bicentennial Torch located in the Quilt Garden.
Bristol’s Torchbearer, Mary Ann Eisenbeiss took over the torch at the Gallops Truck Stop along U.S. 20 and proceeded west to C.R. 17, and on to Beck drive where she handed off the Torch. As the torch was lit, she was greeted by family, friends (including Emily Haskins who had nominated her) and representatives of the William Tuffs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Just the Facts: On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, the Bicentennial Torch Relay Starts at 9am at the MyBrook Dairy Farm in Middlebury, arrives in downtown Elkhart at around 11am and continues on to Goshen and Wakarua before ending at Amish Acres in Nappanee at about 2:30pm
Mary Ann’s leg of the relay will begin at about 9:30 near Gallops Truck Stop at the corner of S.R. 20 & C.R. 15. She will take over the torch and ride in her 2017 Subaru down C.R. 20 to C.R. 17, and continue on to Beck Drive, where she will hand over the torch to the next torchbearer.
