A true ode to nature that awakens after its winter lethargy, hanami is about enjoying the beauty of flowers that bloom in Japan. It is the emblematic flower of the Land of the Rising Sun, the cherry blossom(sakura) that is the object of all eyes. The hanami tradition is lost in the mists of the cultural history of Japan. It would have been born under the Nara era in the 8th century AD. The flowering of the Sakura coincided with the beginning of the rice planting period, the Japanese made offerings at the feet of the Sakuras. One of their beliefs establishing the existence of the gods within the trees, they punctuated their presents by enjoying sake.

"Our project "Identikit" deals with the matter of immigration and hence with identities and the issue of clichés. Identities are highly complex and always different, however clichés work by simplification. Under the view of immigration, more and more families and individuals have a patchwork-identity, which is often encountered by others with stereotypes. To visualize this problematic issue we have made portraits of well known German, French and American personalities, which have a migration background. Based on a technique, that is known from Childrens books or phantom view catalogs, the faces are horizontally cut in stripes, so that you can rearrange them in endless variations. In addition there are a series of words on the backside so that you can replace some parties of the face. There are so many options, some make sense, some don´t, some invoke images and even stereotypes in your head, but they give no concrete answer. It´s all in the viewer."

The Citroën SM, the top model of the French brand in the seventies, is in itself already a special car with the V6 from Maserati under the hood, but this specific example from 1971 in the color Vert Argenté has a very special story. The Soviet license plates give it away a bit, because that has to do with the former owner of this SM. That was Leonid Brezhnev, the Ukrainian-born president of the former Soviet Union (USSR). He received the car as a gift during his state visit to France.
For many years the SM was owned by Brezhnev, althought the car was officially under the control of the Russian secret service, the KGB. When not in use, it was parked in a parking garage under the Kremlin. After the fall of the Wall, the Russian fleet went on sale and the Citroën ended up in Switzerland. Later it came back on the market there and was bought by a Dutchman.
Seeing this SM on the Dutch roads with still those Soviet plates is therefore quite special. It was exhibited at the InterClassics car event in the MECC shortly before this photo was taken.
A total of 12,920 copies of the SM were built, of which only 98 were officially sold in The Netherlands. The most famous Dutch owner was Johan Cruijff.

In 1953 Opel had developed a complete new Kapitän. The prewar style was left behind and Opel presented their topmodel according to the style of the 1950s with a modern ponton shaped body. Nevertheless it was only manufactured for only one and a half year.
This big Opel was quite unstable at bumpy roads.
The two lamps under the headlight are an accessory.
The boy on the photo appears a lot at pictures. All pictures have in common that there are only cars from Western brands on the photo which became more rare in Hungary after 1948, year by year. Maybe this boy wanted to pretent if he was the owner.
