A friend asked me to look after his toolbox until he can sort out a shed at his new home. I couldn't resist opening it up and having a peek.

Tool at the Melbourne Big Day Out, January 30, 2011

While cleaning the basement I found one of my old kits for network troubleshooting. It includes a 3COM device for analyzing Ethernet traffic, a known good Token Ring cable, various serial cables and a Hex Driver for Steve Job’s old NeXT computers. Nothing said GEEK in the 80’s like having your own LanScanner!

Home for a visit. Bust out the tools!

I do signage and graphics for museum displays and exhibits. These are some of my tools.

Sweeps can be used for weeding and shallow cultivation. These are easily mounted on the tool bar for working between rows. The 8” sweep blades can be adjusted on the tool bar for working with different width rows. The blades are designed to cultivate close to the plant without damaging the roots. The durable steel blades and cast iron are powder coated.

Angle iron from an old bed frame, cut to size, points added, handles bolted on. square ends left exposed so they can be driven by a hammer.

Here's the pile of tools I'm using every day to do my sanding. You can see one of the two sanders with the blue air hose coming out of it, along with the detail sander and my dust mask right in the middle. I've got three boxes of different grits of sandpaper discs near the front. On top of the black boxes of sandpaper is some rope I use to harness my sander hoses onto my body while I'm up on the scafold. On the right in back I've got some thiner for cleanup, my paint brushes and painting can, and some oil to keep the sanders lubricated. On the left in the back I've got an old shirt I use for wiping off the sanding dust, as well as different grits of sandpaper for my detail sander. Most important is the pair of black anti-vibration gloves on top of the white box in the center. If you don't use those you can cause yourself permanent nerve damage from the constant vibration from the sander!
