This GIANT plush was available only for a very limited time for sale in the New York and Japanese Pokemon Centers. It retailed for about $150, and sells secondhand for 4-20x that much.

The Japanese Tyranitar has the correct eyes in the photos above; most (or all) Tyranitars sold in America have upside-down, switched eyes, looking down and backwards.

None of them could have known it at the time the photo is meant to have been taken but Hudson, Oldsmobile, the Denver and Rio Grande Western, and the Super Chief, run by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe were all destined to end up in the transportation orphanage.

In the 1950s, the road became king as Ike started building the Interstate system. Air Travel was just starting to replace the romance of travel by rail across America. Soon, both cars and planes would take their bite of the travel dollar apple from the railroads, leaving the rails with mostly freight traffic.

A song was sung by Judy Garland about the ATSF and a movie was made about the DRGW and the battle to build a line through the Royal Gorge. These were railroads of legend but to no avail in the end.

Same for Hudson and Olds. Who will be next to head for the orphanage?

If you are ever near Golden, Colorado visit the Colorado Railroad Museum and "Lose track of time" for a while. Way more fun than a tour of the beer factory.
