United States, Six Seated Liberty Dimes, 1882-1884. This brooch (a pin made of more than one love token is called a brooch) connects six dimes with jump rings to each other and a precast jeweler’s bar pin back. On each coin is a distinct hammered and engraved pattern that surrounds an engraved name. The complete field of each coin is filled with geometric, floral, curvy, and straight marks. Although the pieces are all linked together, the design on each token is one-of-a-kind.

The weekend of 8 - 10 September 2017 saw the Steam Gala of the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway, there were two visiting guest locomotives, one of them being Ivatt 2-6-2T numbered 41312, normally resident on the Mid-Hants Railway. In this image this versatile locomotive is seen at Furnace Sidings (the headquarters of the railway) working the 17.07 Coed Avon to Whistle Inn, a non-stop working, hence the exhaust seen emanating from the chimney. Close inspection will show the firemen on the footplate about to hand over the token from Coed Avon to Furnace Sidings, his other arm is raised to collect the token for the short journey to Whistle Inn. I watched the token exchange which was executed to perfection, pretty good for a non-professional railwayman. (Any error with the exchange could have been very painful for the 'window-hanger' in the first carriage.)

The 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Chesterton, Porter County, Indiana, indicates that Warren N. Stilson owned and operated a saloon. By 1920, census data shows that Stilson was living with his family in Miller, Lake County, Indiana, and was operating a grocery.
Warren Newton Stilson was born January 10, 1873, in Indiana, and died in 1949 in Miller, Lake County, Indiana. He married Anna Mathilda Lindström on December 14, 1892, in Lake County, Indiana. Warren and Anna were the parents of five children: Floyd, Ethel, Gertrude, Gladys, and Thomas.
Warren N. Stilson applied "for a license to sell spirituous, vinous and malt liquors in less quantities than five gallons at a time with the privilege of allowing the same to be drank on the premises where sold" from the Porter County, Indiana, Board of County Commissioners in February 1911.

Patriotic Civil War Token
The Federal Union It Must Be Preserved
Our Union
This token, bearing a likeness of the famous statue of Andrew Jackson, included his most famous quote concerning his stand against secession. "Our Federal Union! It Must Be Preserved!" was President Andrew Jackson's volunteer toast delivered at the annual Democratic Jefferson Day dinner on 13 April 1830 in response to the South Carolina senator Robert Hayne's pronullification speech. Hayne's speech and the toasts that followed were intended to display a united front for states' rights within the party. Jackson became aware of the plan before the dinner, and he decided to pronounce finally his position on nullification and win back the initiative. To the attendees' shock, Jackson, often identified with states' rights, declared his opposition to nullification and proclaimed his belief in a supreme, perpetual Union.

Another from the first day of the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Spectacular, the day proved to be a trying day for the volunteers and staff of the railway as lineside fires delayed services through the day. However, this presented an unforeseen photographic opportunity towards the end of the day with 45596 Bahamas running some 80" late arriving at Williton with a full maroon rake in gorgeous light.
