Tourism to Cambodia was doubling ever 6 months when we went. In an attempt to make it easier for tourists to get to Angkor the decided to add more dirt to the road. The dumped piles of dirt every 100 meters or so for miles. Roughly half of these piles (which covered the roads) have been smoothed. The rest were simply blocking the road. So every 100 meters, the bus had to swerve off the road and then back on in order to avoid these mounds. At some point, we ran across this truck which had the unfortunate fate of getting stuck in the ditch (while going around a mound). Our van had to simply wait its turn while a crew of people tried to dislodge our predecessor.
