Hindley Street in Adelaide has two personalities - By night, it is pretty rough - full of nightclubs and bars - By day, it is just another street in the centre of Adelaide.
McDonald's on Hindley Street is open 24 hours, so it is witness to both sides of the location. The staff do a grand job of providing a clean, welcoming (and safe) hangout. Comfortable bench seats, clean restrooms, decent coffee (yes, really - a consistent medium strength blend, with a taste midway between an Italian espresso roast and a fruity South American blend), a display case full of treats, and free Wi-Fi make this a handy spot for doing some work when visiting Adelaide for business.
The adoption of McDonald's by Australians is a topic that brings a smile to my face. It seems almost natural for them to sponsor the Australian Olympic team competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics. At the same time, McDonald's remain a symbol of the global spread of American "culture".
... Returning to this photograph ... It isn't every day that you see a mini Spider-Man at McDonald's. And complete with an offsider to carry his bag. ... I thought that Spider-Man worked alone?

This moth had a small droplet of water in the corner of its eye. Was this a tear?
Seriously, a misty rain was falling, and this water droplet was caught in the corner of this moth's eye against its antenna. Still, it made me think about what would make a moth sad enough to cry.
I wish that I knew more about moths and was able to identify them ... But there are just so many species, and such great variability in appearance for a large number of the species.
In this case, I shall suggest that it is a member of the Hepialidae family of moths, and being very brave, one of the more than 70 species belonging to the Oxycanus genus. Moths in this family are commonly known as Ghost or Swift Moths.

645 PRO - The 645 PRO camera replacement app is my favorite for close-ups in low-light conditions through to total darkness. For these photographs, I turn the flash on, and set the exposure mode to Manual. Focussing is very difficult. One strategy is to manually set the focus distance to the minimum possible and then sweep the camera backwards and forwards, closer and further away from the subject, stopping every centimeter or so to take a photograph. One of these photographs is bound to be in focus! Other times, such as this, when the subject is a reasonable size, I touch the screen at the desired focus point and frame the photograph so that the relevant point on the subject is at the focus point. The autofocus doesn't always work in these lighting conditions, so I tend to take quite a few photographs to guarantee success. In this instance, I obtained a suitable exposure with the fixed aperture of f2.2, exposure length of 1/50th of a second, and an ISO of 50. The output image had 4032 x 3024 pixels (12MP).
Lightroom Mobile - Straightened the image, cropped it to square format, adjusted the Temperature, and output an image with 1428 x 1428 pixels.
Photoshop Fix - Used the Heal tool to remove a piece of white fluff from the subject and some small distractions from the background. Used to Lighten brush tool to modify the background near the top right of the image.
Photogene - Applied a gradient filter to darken the top edge of the image.
Photoshop Express - Applied the Sharpen filter. Increased the brightness of the Shadows.
Big Photo - Resized the image to 2448 x 2448 pixels (6MP).
ExifEditor - Transferred the EXIF data from the original photograph to the final image.

After posting 3 of my saved "favorite" Hipstamatic color filter combinations, I shall now post 3 of my "favorite" monochrome/B&W filter combinations applied to this same parkland scene.
When it comes to color photographs, I prefer the image to have a largely "natural", unfiltered color look. Monochrome/B&W images are a different beast - Filtering is at the core of these images. The processing starts with a mapping of the full color space to a single base color scale. Having committed to a filtered result, we can then go all the way and add other common filters such as textures, vignettes, and borders/frames.
The color space filters used in Hipstamatic to produce the range of monochrome/B&W "films" are not the same as the traditional red/green/blue/orange/yellow filters used in other apps. The mappings that are used are not revealed, but I find some of them to be intriguing and attractive.
The Jimmy lens BlacKeys Supergrain film combination has a low-key color filter. It has a broad, smooth, gradational dark vignette that gives way to a solid black border/frame.
