It is now Time for Crab 2026! The crustacean celebration has evolved, and grown a vestigial contest - the Carcinisation Competition! Nature keeps trying to re-evolve crabs, and while the phenomenon isn't quite as pervasive as the internet would have you believe, it is still super cool, and applicable to MOCs! If animals keep turning into crabs, why not LEGO sets and themes?
This time for crab, you can enter the contest for a chance to win a copy of 31385 Beautiful Dolphins, a Creator 3in1 set... that you can rebuild into a crab as an alternate model! The set has been kindly signed by the model designer, Jared.
Your task? Reimagine, rebuild and represent a specific LEGO set, entire theme, or anything recognizably related to the hobby as a crustacean, and post it here on Flickr with the tags 'timeforcrab' and 'crabcompetition' between the 1st and 31st of July. Please use both tags for contest entries! I will be joined by Maxx 'mmbmaxx' Davidson in judging the entries.
As always, all crustaceans are valid, so if you want to participate in the crustivities but *not* the contest, we welcome all crabby creations with open claws. Feel free to use the 'timeforcrab' tag and leave out the competition one. The more the crustier!
In the meantime, a pair of Competitor Crabs have started a contest of their own...

This crustacean was built for the #tealsquadron display which is set on an ocean planet, so of course it needed some sea creatures. Compared to a minifigure it’s a giant lobster – the fauna in Star Wars tends to be intimidating. Currently it’s #timeforcrab in the building community but hopefully #timeforlobster isn’t too much of a sideways move.

Hey! These were built back in 2019. I think they were meant to go with my bigger crab.
Not much time for building Lego these days but I haven't given it up yet. And I'm itching to edit my backlog of photographed stuff. Baby steps.
One of the few peaceful denizens of the Pit, the Karauna have no natural predator. Matoran researchers have found evidence pointing to latent psychoactive abilities compelling any living being in close proximity to either leave the Karauna alone, or regard it as a friend.
The species gained a reputation for having a comically naive disposition, as they have no fear response but are naturally curious. The golden protrusion above their eyes earned them the nickname "kings of the Pit".

Don't underestimate these little guys, while their claws aren't yet ready for throwing devastating punches, their speed can easily knock over the most vigilant Toa and Matoran, even their bite can be particularly vicious.

Though he walks sideways, this Dark Hunter is a straightforward brute. Slow on land, but on the seabed, he’s both unstoppable force and immovable object.

Turaga Teridax was already against having a hyperactive miniature Manas crab racing around the catacombs of his hideout under the island, let alone the second that appeared not long after. But alas, seeing how his sons have grown so close to these little pests, he couldn't bring himself to banish them. He really cares too much for his sons.
