Mr. an Mrs. Smith had a wonderful life.
They were a normal, happy husband and wife.
One day they got news that made Mr. Smith glad.
Mrs. Smith would would be a mom
which would make him the dad!
But something was wrong with their bundle of joy.
It wasn't human at all,
it was a robot boy!
He wasn't warm and cuddly
and he didn't have skin.
Instead there was a cold, thin layer of tin.
There were wires and tubes sticking out of his head.
He just lay there and stared,
not living or dead.
The only time he seemed alive at all
was with a long extension cord
plugged into the wall.
Mr. Smith yelled at the doctor,
"What have you done to my boy?
He's not flesh and blood,
he's aluminum alloy!"
The doctor said gently,
"What I'm going to say
will sound pretty wild.
But you're not the father
of this strange looking child.
You see, there still is some question
about the child's gender,
but we think that its father
is a microwave blender."
The Smith's lives were now filled
with misery and strife.
Mrs. Smith hated her husband,
and he hated his wife.
He never forgave her unholy alliance:
a sexual encounter
with a kitchen appliance.
And Robot Boy
grew to be a young man.
Though he was often mistaken
for a garbage can.

Of all the super heroes,
the strangest one by far,
doesn't have a special power,
or drive a fancy car.
next to Superman and batman, I guess he must seem tame.
But to me he is quite special,
and Stain Boy is his name.
He can't fly around tall buildings,
or outrun a speeding train,
the only talent he seems to have
is to leave a nasty stain.
Sometimes I know it bothers him,
that he can't run or swim or fly,
and because of this one ability,
his dry cleaning bill is sky-high.

How To Be Strange
1. Ignore adults unless their name is Tim Burton.
2. Exit the world often.
3. Don’t believe in facts, believe in people.
4. Practice having different feelings about the same old thing.
5. Play even while you work.
6. Throw your favorite things away and learn to love something you were once bored with.
7. Eat your dinner on the sidewalk.
8. Listen to animals, the grass and sometimes the sky. They often have something to say, but often there is no one with enough patience to listen.
9. After messing with numbers or doing some math, lock it up, go outside and train a few ants
10. Practice getting lost and when you can no longer find yourself, pretend you are a tree, a crooked tree.
11. Give up sugar and eat lots of rainbows. Rainbows feed the dreams where the strangeness lies. If there aren’t any naturally occurring rainbows to eat, use a prism, a hose or your own personal cloud.
12. Remember that opinions are created and used by people who believe they are the center of everything. Ignore opinions, not the people, and remember one man’s strange is another man’s treasure. So treasure yours and hope that everyone else finds theirs.
Posting those recent Trona Pinnacles images remind me of a trip I took there in 2001. Imagine driving out to the place as the sun was setting, only to find a gigantic crashed space ship! I managed to get this one shot off before black clad security agents in an unmarked van made me leave. (a year later Tim Burton's remake of "Planet of the Apes" came out and this ship was instantly recognizable.)

My contribution to VirtuaLUG's Alice in Wonderland layout at BrickWorld 2012 was the chessboard battle and Jabberwocky. Since others helped contribute the armies and I was unable to attend, I have no pics of the complete layout. Although the board and ruins have been torn down, I still have this on my shelf and probably will for a good long time. ~H

First off, I apologize for the lack of content lately; I have been camping for 4 weeks. My previous two post inspired me to make a few more Burton Batman villains, and these are what I came up with:

I love Tim Burton and really wanted to do corpse bride but despite trolling thrift shops and vintage stores I could not find a dress that would work. So I'll save that for later, keep shopping save up for photoshop and maybe do a week of Tim Burton around halloween. We have these rusty shears up on the fire place mantel so I went with Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street

The west Texas town of Terlingua came into being around a number of mines, mainly for cinnabar, the ore that contains mercury. When the electric switch was invented in the midst of WWII, the demand for mercury dried up, and the mines and consequently, the towns collapsed. Many of the mine workers were Mexican, and the cemetery in Terlingua is fantastic, especially around the day of the dead, when many of the graves are adorned with sugar skulls, candles, and other decoration.
