Throwback Thursday
Every year my hometown of Kirkland Lake, Ontario celebrates it's birthday. This was it's 75th. The girl standing up in the truck with the black jacket on is my daughter Racheal. She ran a flower shop called Foxgloves and Hollyhocks in town. This photo is from 1994.
For Throwback Thursday. This was our cat Spirit sitting in a basket. We had him for nearly 18 years. If Spirit was still here, he would be 25 years old tomorrow (November 16, 2018).
#ThrowbackThursday to my first visit to Iceland during winter of 2017, and saw these beautiful Icelandic horses.

Throwback Thursday at KU: Did you know electric streetcars once scaled Mount Oread — and sparked campus pranks? From 1910 until buses made them obsolete in 1933, streetcars carried students and faculty on rails from Lawrence’s downtown to campus. Traveling the “KU Loop,” the cars, powered by overhead electric lines, started from Eighth and Massachusetts streets, ran west to Mississippi Street, then south to McCook Field, near the present-day Memorial Stadium. The cars squeaked up the hill between Bailey and Strong halls to just east of old Robinson Gymnasium, near today’s Wescoe Hall.
Antics were common — bicyclists would hitch a free ride up the Hill by grabbing a car’s back rail. Pranksters had fun unhooking the trolley poles from the overhead wires, rocking the cars on the rails, or even spiriting away the big white K and U letters on the front. While the streetcars have rolled into history, you can still see a section of rail on display in the Kansas Union.

Didn't realize I was doing "ledgers" way back at the University of Minnesota. As you can see we weren't that excited writing line-of-business apps. Also funny how Privacy Enhanced Mail never took off. Pity that.
Here's the executive summary for Forms Nirvana from an old design doc:
This document describes an open-architecture forms routing and approval system suitable for routing requests through a multi-person authorization chain. Once a request has been authorized, the completed request can be automagically submitted to another system (for example, the financial system for posting to the general ledger). While WWW is initially envisioned as the vehicle for user interaction with the system, the request routing logic is separated from user presentation so that other technologies (such as E-mail with digital signatures) can be used as well. Provisions are also made for entities other than human signers to be part of the authorization chain, so consistency checks can be automatically applied to the form's content.
You can read more about Forms Nirvana in this Minnpost article.
