Kyle hates when women post pictures of their engagement rings on Flickr. I don't know why it bothers him so much, but it does. I, however, like to see other people's rings. It's fun to guess a woman's (or her honey's) personality by what her engagement ring looks like. I know that's kind of shallow, but I still find it amusing.
My ring was designed by Karen Karch, who has a little shop in Nolita. You can see how dinged up it looks after four years. Good thing I (actually Kyle) chose a rugged looking setting. I bang the crap out of that thing all the time.

When my grandmother passed away in 2005, my sister and I inherited two rings she wore all the time. Each ring was made of several diamonds that she'd inherited from relatives when they had died. The rings were big and much flashier than my sister and I liked, so we planned to break them up and have them made into smaller pieces of jewelry.
In 2006, I used one of the diamonds, which had been my great grandmother's engagement ring, for my engagement ring. The rest of the diamonds from that ring and my grandmother's other ring just sat in a lockbox after that.
This year, my sister and I finally had all of the remaining stones made into several wonderful new pieces, and this is one of them, a three stone diamond ring for my right hand.
We had all the pieces made at St. Charles Jewelry Center on Taylorsville Rd, here in Louisville, KY. They did a fabulous job. I highly recommend them!
