The #FlickrFriday #Three'sACrowd challenge
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' annual Big Garden Birdwatch invites everybody to record the avian visitors to their gardens (or another space, a park perhaps) for an hour over the last weekend of January, then upload the results to their website. It's been running for about 40 years. Half a million participants each year make it the largest citizen science project in the world
Its findings have in recent years have become accepted as reliable science. They have resulted in the house sparrow, which many believe to be the commonest British bird, (it isn't - blackbirds and wrens are more numerous, if less obvious) being identified as being in rapid decline and being added to the conservation red list. This occurred on the same day that the red kite moved from red to amber.
This photo, taken during my contribution using a tripod mounted camera with a wireless shutter release attached, features three blue tits on the same feeder with a fourth waiting for a space. Three would appear to be a crowd so far as these aggressive little critters are concerned.
And I wasn't able to record a house sparrow . . .
Elephants are one of my favorite animals. Here we see a group of three from a larger herd at the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. From left to right is an about one year old calf, a three to four year old calf, and a mature cow (possibly the matriarch).

Vintage image of a lucky man in uniform with two killer brunettes. I wish I could tell what type of uniform this is as it would only add to the photo. If this guy met these women in the morning there is a high likelihood that this lucky gent would be robbed and tied to a tree with his pants around his ankles by 12 noon. Judging from the women’s faces, I would guess it is getting close to noon. This found photograph comes from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage image of three Viet Nam-era sailors, who have probably just been granted shore leave, hitting the telephone booths. Try and find one phone booth today let alone three. Hope it all worked out well for them - both their leave and their stretch in the service. This found photograph is from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Vintage image of three nuns with one made in the shade. She’s letting all those boys and girls she tortures daily that she is too cool for Catholic School. In keeping with the austerity program, I see that those Little Sisters of the Poor are not allowed to wear those Foster Grants or Ray Bans. This found photograph comes from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Enjoying the Endless Summer all year long! Vintage image of three big hair around the way girls at the beach. No idea where this was taken, but it is definately from the 1980s. Not the best image but I did try to tighten it up a little. Not quite the quality I like to post, but I feel it is worth sharing.
