ODC-Match Up

Pen & Paper are always a good match.

The Flickr Lounge-A Good Match

I got this little rustic/country item on Etsy. I love a little salt and pepper on my food.

The punster in me couldn't help it. Guess I am counting on the element typically shortened to "Su" - The element of SURPRISE!

In my mind, her name is Watson. He's telling her "It's elementary my dear Watson!" Also, I not until later did I remember this, but he could also be selling something my wife gets regularly - barium di-sodium (BaNa2, or BaNaNa - lol)

As you can see, here is a table (and bench) of elements, being used by my character who is periodically selling ELLA Mints (see, in the background? Yes, they are the size of regular rolls of mints). I hope you enjoyed the puns as I focused in on the whole table (and bench)...!

Oh, and BTW, this also seems to fit the ODC theme "Things that go together..."

Also, I would like to give a shout out to the American Chemical Society and their "Periodic Table of Elephants" as seen at: www.emsb.qc.ca/laurenhill/science/elephant2.jpg and blogs.nature.com/news/files/chemifant small.JPG

As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!

Update: Just found out this made it to EXPLORE. Thanks everyone!

ODT: 2/24/2012: Things that go together.

I am English so tea and milk always go together.

Every morning my husband brings me a tray of tea in bed to start my day. This is a pretty special thing. But it is even more so because my husband suffered a severe brain injury and resulting stroke 12 years ago. It took 2 years of rehab, and another couple of years of hit and miss attempts for him to get it anywhere near drinkable. (Plus I am English and I am pretty fussy about my tea.) But now he does it just right each and every day. (Quite surprising for an American.) This is today's tray. He chooses one of my flower mugs each day, and picks the flowers too, when there are some in our little garden.

Winner of the weekly theme. Thanks everyone.

Taken for 52.5 of 2010.

Today I made a big hearty stew in my porcelain covered Lodge cast iron pot. I used a little bacon and lots of veggies, some came from our garden. Stu found me this spoon rest in the shape of an owl in red, it matches my pot perfectly. I love it!

Multitasking again!

Our Daily Challenge - Things That Go Together - 3/24/12

Flickr lounge. Go together. Just found these and I think they go together.

Our daily Challenge - "Things that go together":

We had a nice evening yesterday, celebrating Hannah's daddy's birthday. She and I like to play a little game where I hug her tight and tell her she's my prisoner. Every once in a while I let her escape, but she always comes back for more. lol ♥ (Trying to get on the other side of the lens occasionally so Hannah has pictures of us together).

BTW....she already gets it that my "mission" is to document her life. The other day she told her mom, "Maybe Grammy will take a picture of me helping you make the bed". lol. She cracks me up!

I play chess once in a while and wanted to find a way to showcase the king and queen in a photograph. Since Valentine's Day is approaching, I thought this was a fun way to do it.

ODT things that go together???..........

the british have an expression that things are "as different as chalk and cheese"-- it's a pair of objects that one never thinks of combining for sure, but it's what popped into my head when i read the challenge below..................

"Going at it hammer and tongs" means really getting sweaty about it. It comes from the way that a blacksmith would take his tongs to pull the white-hot metal from the forge, and use them to hold and turn the metal as he hammered it into shape. He had to work fast while the metal was still malleable, so going at it "hammer and tongs" says ferocity, a fury of energy. The title is ironic - hammer and tongs is not a good way to go about drilling screws into things.

This was a picture we set up to Congratulate the recipients of their wish fullfilments. We are sitting in out home staged for sale, it sold at the PEAK of that market. Just days later. None of them got it! It shows a frozen beef pie on a Gold Charger. Wine glasses filled with grape juice. Every recipient got their own, personally distorted picture (computer generated) copy of this original. We are dressed up to the 9's with no where to go.

Last week I had to go through the horror of being washed. You can imagine what all the other monkeys at home thought… that’s right, that I smelled funny after being washed! Well I’ve gotten used to the new smell by now but you know… I miss my shirt! She took it off and threw me, unceremoniously, in a bucket of water but do you think she even thought about washing my shirt as well? Oh no, it’s still laying around here and I can’t reach it. I want to put it back on because I feel a bit naked without it to be honest…

Thanks to my hand model, who shall remain nameless, who graciously accepted to lose all street cred by holding a tea cup and saucer delicately with his pinkie sticking out!
