There are 30 species and over 20,000 cultivars of dahlias. Those cultivars are categorized based on size, flower pattern, and how they resemble other flowers (like waterlilies, anemones, and cactus blooms). The large decorative types and cactus types are among the most popular, and many varieties are used in cut flower gardens.

There is hardly a better place in my area to enjoy a perfect Autumn day than the open-air -museum in Detmold. We spent a whole day in beautiful sunshine without a cloud in this lovely location.

The LWL-Freilichtmuseum in Detmold is a great place to learn and experience the world of our ancestors. The open-air-museum is covered with buildings, tools, animals and plants of countryside life in Northwest Germany in the last couple of centuries. An endless source of inspiration for HDR photography.

There's a bit of a large patch of some forgotten part of the garden where lots of Foxtail Barley grows and it's all become golden and yellow and so I ventured into the patch this morning with my camera. Got half-bitten to death by mosquitoes in the process; suffering for my art! :-))

There's such a satisfying feeling as a photographer, when you reach a location before sunrise, when everything is still dark and deep hues of blue and grey, and the first light of the sun begins to illuminate the world in front of your lens.

Standing in the depths of Zion Canyon on a blustery winter morning, my eyes tearing from the sub-freezing gusts, the anticipation is palpable. When the first hint of light starts to warm the Towers and Temple of the Virgin under a still deep blue sky, it is truly one of the Creator's great ceremonies.

There are over 90 species of sundew. The majority are found in Australia and South Africa, but they also grow in hot, humid areas of Georgia, Florida and other similar climates. The plants prefer acidic soils and are usually where there is a bog or marsh and often grow on top of sphagnum moss.

Actually this asparagus fern is a weed in our garden....but it did look pretty sparkling with dew drops in the morning sun. Not really able to get out much at the moment, but can still do some processing. So .... HSS :))

There are several balconies to watch the sunset from hammocks or/and wooden benches, a deck to see a stream/sunset and the possibility of reaching the crystalline waters through well-made trails, a part of the recovered Atlantic forest and original.

The wi-fi works really well.

A couple uses this location as a home base.

There's not much water on the Salisbury Plain, so it's usually fruitful to hang out at any large puddles occupying tank tracks.

There are moments that you wish to never end. This was one such situation.

The view was beautiful, with the amazing blue of the sea contrasting with the variegated green tones on land and all of it was covered by fantastic cloud formations, creating a unique atmosphere that was reinforced by the absence of any sound or movement.

Capture taken on day 3 of previous NYC visit. The day started again early and I did use a taxi to get to Grand Central to take a few capture there. The plan afterwards was to move to Tudor bridge. Too bad, there was just construction works so I could not get on that bridge...so I went further to get to this place. Was a bit late for more blue in the sky, but now overall happy with this edit. When I would take shots of this male broad-billed hummingbird out front, they would have lots of noise. I use "neat image" everyonce in a while to clean it up.

There was a baby bird bonanza here at Lake Meyer today. There were at least four young Baltimore orioles flitting around in the trees and pestering several pairs of parents.
