Il palio di Siena del 16 Agosto, dedicato alla Madonna dell’Assunta, e corso quel pomeriggio come previsto, é stato vinto dalla Contrada del Valdimontone che ha preso e mantenuto la prima posizione per tutti e tre i giri sul tufo della pista.
#1 La mossa: Valdimontone, Pantera e Leocorno partono quasi affiancati, mentre l’Onda, di rincorsa è molto più indietro;
#2 Il fantino Giuseppe Zedde, detto Gingillo, sul cavallo Anda e Bola, per la Contrada del Valdimontone, prende e mantiene la testa del gruppo;
#3 il momento della vittoria del Montone;
#4 il tripudio nel Campo dopo la fine della carriera;
#5 giubilo e pianti di gioia fra i contradaioli del Montone;
#6 piazza de Il Campo, prima del deflusso;
#7 a tarda sera, in piazza de Il Campo, contradaioli del Montone portano in trionfo il palio da poco conquistato.

Four spot Chaser, it was delightful standing at the side of a small pond watching this one fight for territory, he won, I don't know what the looser looked like as it went, but he isn't undamaged his wings took a battering, the noise was wonderful as they met, mid air, to fight for the territory, such a clattering noise, then a rest on a branch which was great for me.
Tom Dumoulin, runs fast in Milan, towards the finish line and victory in the 100 th edition of Giro d'Italia.

While a little cluttered and confusing, these three Northern Harrier Hawks fight over a Canada Goose carcass. Sometimes you're a winner, sometimes a loser!
I converted this photograph to black and white, because when looking at it in colour, the whole composition, contrast between light and shadow, the silhouettes of the crew and their body language made this image a great candidate for black and white. And I don't think I am wrong...

This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera and KOWA 1:2.8/85 lens with a Zenza Bronica 67mm SY48•2C(Y2) filter using Kodak TMX100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered using Photoshop .
Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well.

Dreaming of winning the Tour de France? The Junior A (under 16's) criterium race at Kirkcaldy, which took place just before the Halfords Tour Series professional race 2012, was dominated by riders of Edinbugh R.C. who finished in the first three places. Here Stuart Balfour finishes just ahead of Hamish Carrick, with Sean Noon (out of shot) finishing third. This was a great spectacle and I hope that the Halfords Tour Series returns to Kirkcaldy next year (this was the first ever time it had crossed the border into Scotland).
The photo was used on the EDinbugh R.C. website to illustrate their report on the race.

Our 11 year old Grandson, Tommy. He was in a school sponsored Chess Tournament today and won a Gold Medal, for 1st Place in his division. Tommy is a thoroughly nice young boy, every time he beats me, (a lot) he tells me how lucky he was.
Usually while I'm trying to figure out his strategy, he gets my King in Checkmate.
