July 11th 2014
I was lucky enough to see The Fall on nine occasions (the tenth was cancelled owing to Mark's ill health). I didn't feel a single memorial photograph was enough to remember the man and the band that meant so much to me, so over the next few days I will upload one photo from each of those gigs (in no particular order), along with the relevant set list. There's a lyric quotation with each one too - not necessarily from a song that was performed at that gig, but just one that meant something to me, or made me laugh.
Clapham Grand - 15th November 2013.
Set list: Amorator / Hot Cake/ Strychnine / Jet Plane / Sir William Wray / Chino / The Remainderer / Mr Rode / Theme From Sparta FC / Cowboy George / Reformation! / What About Us?
"Balti and Vimto and Spangles were always crap,
Regardless of the look back bores"
"It's A Curse", The Infotainment Scan (1993).

plus here's following a new track by Tina Sani , Enjoy a Great Time !! =)
Part of my ongoing Project: 'Modern interpretations of Traditional Themes.'Lamia was a mistress of the god Zeus, causing Zeus' jealous wife, Hera, to kill all of Lamia's children (except for Scylla, who is herself cursed) and transform her into a monster that hunts and devours the children of others and seduces young men in order to feed on their blood. This depiction is based upon the J.W.W Waterhouse's painting which intern was inspired by 'Lamia' poem by John Keats.
I must also confess that the pose and costume is based upon a scene from one of my all time favourite movies which I have just re-discovered, 'The Fall' by Tarsem Singh Dhandwar. Since this is an modern interpretation of old themes, my ill fated man will be more Steampunk inspired in his costume (really who would want to alter the masked bandit outfit much complete with guyliner and mohawk). Lamia will have snakeskin bangles and touches to her dress as is her main symbol.
Until 1663 St Stephen's Green was a marshy common on the edge of Dublin, used for grazing. In that year Dublin Corporation, seeing an opportunity to raise much needed revenue, decided to enclose the centre of the common and to sell land around the perimeter for building. The park was enclosed with a wall in 1664. The houses built around the Green were rapidly replaced by new buildings in the Georgian style and by the end of the eighteenth century the Green was a place of resort for the better-off of the city. Much of the present-day landscape of the square comprises modern buildings, some in a replica Georgian style, and relatively little survives from the 18th and 19th centuries.
In 1814 control of St Stephen's Green passed to Commissioners for the local householders, who redesigned its layout and replaced the walls with railings.
After the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria suggested that St Stephen's Green be renamed Albert Green and have a statue of Albert at its centre, a suggestion rejected with indignation by the Dublin Corporation and the people of the city, to the Queen's chagrin.
Access to the Green was restricted to local residents, until 1877, when Parliament passed an Act to reopen St Stephen's Green to the public, at the initiative of Sir A.E. Guinness, a member of the Guinness brewing family who lived at St Anne's Park, Raheny and at Ashford Castle. He later paid for the laying out of the Green in approximately its current form, which took place in 1880, and gave it to the Corporation, as representatives of the people. By way of thanks the city commissioned a statue of him, which faces the College of Surgeons. His brother Edward lived at Iveagh House, which his descendants gave in 1939 to the Department of External Affairs (now the Department of Foreign Affairs).
