Freshwater biologists count underwater insects and use this data as an indicator of the water's health. If one identifies the sound of specific underwater insects with their varying ability to survive forms of pollution, one can possibly, through focused listening, reach an understanding of the health of the river. Underwater insects use stridulation to produce sound, such as Corixa, the lesser water boatman, which lives its whole life underwater. It also uses an air bubble carried on its abdomen as a physical lung, where oxygen flows from the water into the bubble. This bubble might also be amplifying the sound they make.

The Listener is a sound composition created from hydrophone recordings in the River Orne in Normandy. A 6 channel sound installation made for the exhibition 'Second Nature' is part of a 3 year investigation into the health of the river.

Niagara Falls, Ontario province, Canada country, North America continent

July 11th 2014

The Church of The Fall, September 23 and 28 at Lock 91, Manchester, is one man’s attempt to do justice to Mark E. Smith and his group The Fall. Before converting to atheism at 21, Stephen G. Titley was a practising Christian. He misses the love and certainty of the faithful, his show is about the need to believe in something greater than us all and that thing is The Fall. Expect music, love and laughs. You don’t have to love The Fall to enjoy this show, you just need to love music. Come one, come all, to the Church Of The Fall. FREE ENTRY for ex-Fall members.

Another show I didn’t see but maybe felt the ripple of. The Gerard in "ask for Gerard" is Gerard Cosloy of Conflict fanzine, then Dutch East India, then Homestead, then Matador Records. He's surely worth a few million now. Not that that matters, of course.

The Fall have remained The Fall. It was The Fall, via the Punque-dada Gallery (SP?) in Boston about 1978 that reached me in Eugene, Oregon, May of 1980, finally, in the person of Lesley Ginsberg and through the trigger of a book she carried that day called DADA: ART AND ANTI-ART by Hans Richter. This incident led my curious eye toward an ancient tradition of punk practice.

Christmas was re-constituted, more or less, in the 1990’s as Combustible Edison. We had personal exchanges while I was employed by a Seattle-based industrial plastics manufacturing concern. So many young provokateurs were interested in the manufacture and distribution of plastics back then.

The Angry Samoans were also important to my trajectory. Robert Christie started his 1987 mix-tape to me with "My Old Man is a Fatso". SS Decontrol? Not so much. Not me, personally. That’s somebody else’s tale.

The Fall released “Hex Enduction Hour” on Kamera in 1982. I think that dates this poster.

* "La cayida" /the fall/ by Lujan Maldonado

One of Paraguay's finest poets in which he describes "the fall of men" crushed by the sheer force of the weight of his own shadow.

I do have the english translation which i will post in a day or so after fixing it for in it's present state makes hardly any sense at all; yet in the original it is so timely even though written over thirty years ago.

p.s. my rendering is best viewed on black

March 17th is Saint Patrickâs Day, a day that marks the death of the patron saint of Ireland, and which has also in the last few years evolved into a day where non Irish folk can âbecomeâ Irish with a series of odd traditions.

Where it was originally marked as a religious feast day where Lenten fasting observations were temporarily lifted to commemorate Saint Patrick, the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and Irish heritage and culture, Saint Patrickâs Day is now affectionately associated with activities such as going to a pub or bar with a group of friends, drinking copiously, particularly items laced with green food colouring such as those thoroughly enticing/disgusting green beer concoctions, reciting clichéd Irish sayings in poor impersonations of Lucky Charmsâ Lucky the Leprechaun, wearing plastic leprechaun hats, felt leprechaun hats, and t shirts that say things like, âEveryone loves an Irish girl/guyâ, âKiss me, Iâm Irish,â or âIrish I were drunk,â and generally not remembering much of it the next day.

If youâre not into any of these Saint Patrickâs Day âtraditionsâ, there are many other things you can do to celebrate the Irish culture and still feel great on March 18th while everyone else nurses coconut water and Gatorade and swears that they are never drinking again.

There are plenty of food options that are green by nature and donât involve using your entire pantryâs supply of green food colouring, and which are actually really healthy for you, too! Indulge in a spinach and kale smoothie for breakfast, add some grilled asparagus to your dinner, avocados in your salad, kiwi in your fruit salad, or enjoy a delicious cup of matcha green tea at snack time.

Make a U2 playlist. Even if you arenât Bonoâs biggest fan doesnât mean you canât rock out to In the Name of Love.

After your U2 dance party, kick back with your green food treats and enjoy a Netflix marathon with episodes of The Fall, a TV series that is part crime drama, part psychological thriller which is set in Belfast, Ireland, and which features the increasingly popular Irish actor Jamie Dornan of 50 Shades of Grey fame.

Happy St. Patrickâs Day from all of us at ZoomCharts! We hope itâs an enjoyable one, no matter how you choose to celebrate!
