Ancient Mesopotamia was considered one of the first civilizations throughout history. The name Mesopotamia means: “the land between two riversâ€, between Tigris and Euphrates. This was very important for the ability of settling down, growing crops, and not having to depend on hunting.

The development of writing was also very important, for it saved many things we know about ancient Mesopotamia today.

In the beginning, Mesopotamia consisted of many small city-states, which later on started to grow into empires. These empires grew by having wars with their neighboring states. In this process, many empires collapsed, fell apart or were conquered by other empires.

The belief in demons was also a large part of ancient Mesopotamian religion. People were afraid of bad souls, like demons, so they set up many statues and painted pictures to scare away these unwanted ghosts. As gods, there were different demons, with their own names, who did different types of evil things.

Pazazu/Zu, an evil god, who stole the tablets of Enlilâ€s destiny, and is killed because of this.

He also brought diseases to people, which had no cure, and was able to assume the identity of any living thing, and speak in any tongue

 

There are many tales about ominous events surrounding the year-long shoot of the movie 'The Exorcist', including the strange and unexpected deaths of nine people associated with the production, and stories about mysterious fires that twice destroyed the set.

The director, William Friedkin, eventually asked technical advisor Rev. Thomas Bermingham to exorcise the set.

He refused, saying an exorcism might increase anxiety. Rev. Bermingham wound up visiting the set and gave a blessing and talk to reassure the cast and crew. Televangelist Billy Graham claimed an actual demon was living in the celluloid reels of this movie.

Due to death threats against Linda Blair, Warner Bros had body guards protecting her for six years after the film's release.

The emotional breakdowns, insanity, and unnatural deaths of those connected with the film continue to this day.

# Another Mr. TRONA in the remix this week with a Halloween theme, and I can't exactly say why...... no, not the Ministry song or even pining for free candy, or an excuse to Watch Arsenic & Old Lace. Tis warming up for summer, the uni-season essentially of Texas, and I miss living in an area of this pale blue dot where there still are distinct seasons, particularly the fall! I still hold on to the notion of moving to Chile when my region for now heats up in order to experience two autumns each year, the opposite of course of the famous endless summer zealously pursued by so many surfers, et al. Don't mind my mild seasonal depression, though. I'll make it to the Arctic or Antarctic some season soon to conduct my Atmospheric/Auroral sciences research in person and not via laptop from south central Texas! The Aurora will no doubt be visible this far south agIn, as it was, for instance, on October 29, 2003. But those are anomalies. and I need a spot like Syowa, or anywhere in Iceland, Northern Finland, Norway. Sweden, or even Poker Flat, Alaska, where direct access to geomagnetic storms and their impact is more the rule, and where Christmas doesn't feel like the fourth of [censored by Flickr/Yahoo!] July! ;-}
