Last month i was travelling through Rajasthan, and this image was shot from the top of a sand dune in the Thar. We took the camels from Jaisalmer, to ride into the wilderness and was lucky enough to witness a crazy sunset. The windmills in desert horizon just adds to the drama here...
The incoming tide was a bit lively - and the wind was much colder than it has been lately. I popped out for a walk when I saw that the rain had stopped - but it was a very quick trot to the seafront and back.

One of the advantages of walking on a windy day is that it blows the clouds and the rain away and we can see the mountain at long last.
The disadvantage in that is that we can see that it will need more than 3 weetabix of effort to get up there.
The name of this geyser is Strokkur which is found at Geysir in the Golden Circle on Iceland. It erupts every few minutes and smells of sulphur. You don't want to be down wind of it or you will get very wet.
We were incredibly lucky to see Kilauea Volcano erupting at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The next day in town we heard the wait staff at the coffee shop exclaiming they hadn't seen such a big eruption for years!

Aka 'The Whale', these huge birds were the largest operational jets to operate from the US aircraft carriers, being used initially in the 'Attack' role then as 'Aerial Tankers' and finally as here, in the combined Tanker and Electronic Counter Measures field.
Some Skywarriors were also converted as 'flying classrooms' for Navigational training with a few being fitted out as VIP transports.
Retired from fleet operations they were relegated to shore-based duties serving fleet requirements - being used in the latter roles before being pensioned off and stored at AMARC.
Several were subsequently acquired by civilian outfits and continued in the test and evaluation role for new military equipment by companies such as Raytheon until finally being either scrapped or the odd one being saved for posterity.

Thar desert experience: One night in the desert, camels (actually dromedary) are ready to go out and eat.

Or he...?
Long Beaked Common Dolphin - Delphinus capensis
While we were in San Diego we went on a whale watching trip with San Diego Whale Watch (I'd highly recommend it if you're in the area) hoping to see some grey whales on their migration. We were extremely lucky with the weather and sea conditions, hardly a cloud in the sky and the ocean was almost eerily still.
Once the dolphins had started bow riding, I was so glad I'd staked out my spot at the front of the boat nice and early. They were quite literally right underneath us, and close! So close in fact that depending on the waves they would creep out of focus because they were too close for my lens to focus on (I only took the one lens with me, as I didn't want to be fiddling with swapping them around and possibly getting the sea into the sensor :P)
Despite it not being perfect, I was extremely happy with this shot.

Camel rides in beautiful Sam Sand Dunes of Thar Desert in Rajasthan, India. Outside Jaisalmer and less than 70 kilometers from India-Pakistan Border.

in Jaisalmer, my amorous hotel receptionist invited me to visit his family in the desert for free rather than take the popular, slightly expensive camel-trekking tours. I didn't agree until I found another woman to join.
Amir's niece, who had quite a lot of chores for her age, was ridiculously beautiful with hazel eyes and I regret not asking her to pose for a portrait out of the sun's glare.
A brace of Gray Whales (Eschrichtius robustus) make their way south from Alaska to the Sea of Cortez. At this point in their journey, they are between the Southern California/Mexico coastline and the Coronado Islands, which can be seen in the background. Gray Whales are named after John Edward Gray, who described them taxonomically in 1865. These whales have two spiracles, which give rise to a distinctive "heart-shaped" spouting pattern on calm days such as this one.
Gray Whales are benthic sediment feeders, and make their living in shallow Arctic seas consuming crustaceans. This year, life was good in the North, and they ate their fill early and headed south ahead of their typical schedule.
