Corona walks bring me to - for me unknown - places in my own town. I discovered this very lovely street (Ninove, Belgium). These houses were built (in 1926) for the Fabelta’s management (Fabelta is a yarn and rayon factory – Aalst and Ninove were important cities for the textile industry in the 2nd half of the 19th century and the 1st half of the 20th century; Fabelta, the last textile factory in town, was closed in 2005).

Colorful Tales of the Hills: An Exquisite Canvas of Handloom Art
In the secluded landscapes of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the traditional 'Bain' or backstrap loom weaving of Chakma women moves in a unique, rhythmic harmony. The mural's main figure is a weaving woman - a tribute to the women working in the textile industry in Zgierz.
The mural was designed by Adam Quest.
This Poznań-based designer also incorporated nearby landscape elements - a tree and a street lamp. Zgierz, Poland.

Loom is a type of machine that is made from cotton yarn or cotton made from cotton. And those who sow clothes using loom are called weaving. The history of Bangladeshi loom industry is very ancient. Various districts of Bangladesh inherited this ancient heritage. The culture of this country is involved in this industry. The weavers are our holders and traders. It is also one of the largest cottage industry or folk art of the country.

তাঁত হল এক ধরনের যন্ত্র যা তুলার সুতা বা তুলা থেকে তৈরি করা হয়। আর যারা তাঁত ব্যবহার করে বস্ত্র বপন করে তাদের বলা হয় তাঁত। বাংলাদেশের তাঁত শিল্পের ইতিহাস অতি প্রাচীন। বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন জেলা এই প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্যের উত্তরাধিকারী। এ শিল্পের সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে আছে এদেশের সংস্কৃতি। তাঁতিরা আমাদের ধারক ও ব্যবসায়ী। এটি দেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ কুটির শিল্প বা লোকশিল্প।

The yarn was left as if the task was still to be performed by someone on the days or weeks after... But, no, nobody came to finish this. Dust and spiders found a way to stay.
Cotton: The yarn. The control of quality, my father's main concern. Time has passed, and my memories faded. I only remember my father's joy during the visits he made to his clients'mills where he shared his knowledge and skills with the workers he was training. I regularly went with him on my Summer holidays to get acquainted with the mills and help him with English and German language translation.
A striking “ghost sign” survives on the gable wall of this former warehouse building on Ducie Street in Manchester, advertising H.A. Howard & Sons Ltd – Gaiety Gowns, Day and Evening Wear.
These large painted wall advertisements were once common across Britain in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Before modern billboards, companies painted promotional messages directly onto brickwork, especially on prominent warehouse gables facing busy streets or railway approaches. Over time the paint fades but the lettering often survives for decades, creating what historians now call ghost signs.
The company advertised here, H.A. Howard & Sons Ltd, was a Manchester clothing manufacturer specialising in ladies’ gowns and fashionable day and evening wear. Businesses like this thrived in the city during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, when Manchester was not only a global centre of cotton production but also a major hub for the garment and textile trade. Warehouses and showrooms around Piccadilly, Ducie Street and the Northern Quarter were used by clothing firms supplying retailers across Britain and the Empire.
Today the original painted advertisement survives as a rare piece of commercial street archaeology, quietly preserving a fragment of Manchester’s industrial and fashion history on a warehouse wall long after the company itself has disappeared.

Photographing all these scenes was very painful to me. I was used to look at this and hear the music of the looms and other machinery, and watch the hustle of the workers... and now time stands still.

This scene makes me very sad and nostalgic. I grew up in the core of textile industries when they still were healthy and productive. I still remember my father in the middle of the looming room checking the yarn and other details...
