I was testing out Portra 400BW and seeing how it worked compared to really B&W film.
It seems ok but for me seems to lack some of the punch of real silver film.
I shot this with my F3/T and Zeiss Distagon 35/2 which is a stellar lens.
After playing around with it for a trying to get a decent look out of it, this was about the best I could do with my limited skills.
I'm not convinced that either this film is that great or that possibly the lens/film combination is the best.

Quick tests between 70-200VR and 70-200IS. Results were surprising. 70-200IS focuses much faster, and the IS was more stable at 200mm. The VR lens was very sharp and benefitted from wider depth of field on the cropped D300 sensor. The DOF on the 5D's FF sensor is very shallow. The 70-200VR was an awesome range on a D300. The resulting range was 105-300mm.
Wanted to test objects on a white background to get that seamless look.
Set a grey card as WB and metered off the card, locked meter reading then shot the object. Came out ok.
Did the same with a pen though and the pen came out overexposed... WHY?!

A simple test shot. This is actually only the second time when im trying to use 2Mp PV mode on the 808. I never trusted it. Nevertheless, it really does some marvelous job of creating gorgeous and really sharp detail quality. I'm impressed.
My trip to Japan next February will need very different camera skills to the ones I currently use. A long lens (150-600mm) is a much different beast to the usual 24-70 and 70-200mm lenses that I am used to handling so I thought I'd give it a go with a trip to Edinburgh's Royal Botanical Gardens. This is my favourite image of the day with the duck bending over to preen its feathers. If you look really closely, you can actually see my reflection in the eye of the duck, that is how good this lens is!

Un interessante test di Panning letto su una rivista ove non e' il soggetto a muoversi, ma l'obbiettivo zoom! .. Il soggetto e' sostanzialmente statico, mentre durante lo scatto (con tempi abbastanza lunghi) noi facciamo lo zoom-out o lo zoom-in.
I risultati possono essere decisamente interessanti a patto di avere una buona luce, un movimento costante della mano ed ovviamente un buon soggetto ;)
