After trading places a few days before with BMEX 259, RPRX 2010 finally hits the main line performing some tests that will possibly lead to the Union Railroad buy some gensets. Here 2010 leads a train of 10 slabs past the class yard bound for Irvin, the 259 struggled up the grades in the Mon Valley with only 7 slabs, the 2010 on the other hand handled the train with no problem.

Testing Canon 15mm fisheye

Woke up this morning and decided it was time for a bit of a shake up.

I dusted down my Sony A6000, slapped on the 18-105mm telezoom lens, watched a couple of POV street photography videos to get me fired up and then headed to Celle for the day.

It certainly was weird, to say the least, using a zoom lens after shooting so long with the GR and its fixed 18mm lens.

Had a great day and bagged quite a few keepers. My wife and daughter also bagged a few....shirts, dresses and jeans during the outing. Anything for a quiet life 😉

There is no test drive in life. No trial and error. Every decision about family, work, relationship, and even hobby has to be precise and no turning back. Yes life is tough.

The following is just fictitious example for photography hobbyist but it could be any other serious hobby.

You spent thousands of dollars in the photo gear. You put a lot of time in learning the technicalities of the craft such as Photoshop and Lightroom. You shoot in all the weekends, holidays and even weekdays. This got to be serious and no fun shot or snapshots. After 10, 15 and 20 years, you still cannot get even one single shot close to Ansel Adams while your photo club friends and hundreds of thousands of photographers you met on Internet have surpassed the Ansel standard. You have to admit you have no talent on this but what would you do?

May be move on to next hobby like photo equipment collecting?

I saw the empty and ghostly roller-coaster in PNE. I think it may be a test drive. Does life have test drive?

Kentmere Pan 400. Xtol stock, Agfa Compact 935

The Agfa Compact (Optima 935) is a quite rare camera, and even more difficult to find in working conditions so I'm very happy of this finding.

It was the last camera built by Agfa in Germany in 1981

The handsome Usher Hall: like concert venues up and down the land and across the globe, it has been shut for almost a full year now. Walking past during the recent snows, I noticed it was open again - as a Covid testing centre. The nearby international conference centre is meanwhile being used as a vaccination centre.It makes sense, these places have been empty, they are designed to handle a large volume of people, have lots of space etc. Like everyone though I do wonder when we will get to use them again as actual venues....

Photographing a Test Train on HS1 in any kind of light is a hard thing to do. Eurotunnel have the contract to haul them with their Krupps Locomotives and they always go out at night after the last Eurostar and are back home before daylight. This one was booked back at D Moor at 0447 but I watched it on RTT during the night and it was running 30 minutes late which meant its seen here about 0510 in the morning with just enough light amongst the mist to record 0004 & 0003 on the 2312 D Moor to D Moor test train with it running up to Stratford International twice up HS1.Seen here dropping down the Freight Chord to D Moor at the end of its long night.

A nice surprise at Nagoya-Komaki was this T-4, 06-5605, from Hiko Kaihatsu Jikken Dan at nearby Gifu

Testing out a homemade macro lens. Used a technique that lindseynaima (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lindseynaima/) was gracious enough to share. These flowers are about an inch wide, if that. I put the elements on a 18-35mm lens for this shot.
