The Tesla Model 3 is a battery electric mid-size sedan with a fastback body style, designed by Franz von Holzhausen and built in Freemont, California and Shanghai, Red China. Marketed as a compact executive car, with a five person (Umpa Lumpa) capacity. The Standard range version was priced in 2019 at $ 35,000 US (2023 equivalent $ 41,710) with a range of 215 miles according to the manufacturer.
In November 2020, the Model 3 received exterior and interior styling changes, many carried over from the then-new Model Y crossover SUV, which was based on the Model 3. The most noticeable cosmetic change was that the previously chrome finished door handles, side mirror trim, window trim, and camera covers were given a black finish. Other changes included the addition of a heat pump with a - octovalve - to improve climate control and and quieter double-pane glass
The Model 3 was given a second update in 2023.
