I love the tenacity of this old lodgepole pine tree growing on the granite slope of Lembert Dome in Yosemite National Park

Fishing Boat WK 39 Tenacity, at Wick, in Scotland.

Thanks to TheNewJane for the title

Looking smart after a repaint on the quayside at Wick Harbour on May 23rd 2021 is fishing vessel 'TENACITY' (WK39).

Just one of the small and amazing sights at California's Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, which is just south of the town of Carmel. We ALWAYS stop here when in the area, and it never ceases to amaze me with its beauty and abundance of flora and fauna.

This succulent was growing out of eroding cliff face and was one of the first things I saw when we got out of the car. I realize that I sound like an advertisement for the coast of my adopted state, but give the drive down Hwy 1 a try, if you are ever headed from San Francisco to Los Angeles. You won't be disappointed.

In the Australian outback only the tough survive. This magnificent eucalyptus tree has found a way.

We randomly got off the bus not knowing where we were. In the beginning we found ourselves stifled, struggling around on the motorway looking for a sanctuary of sorts that seemed so far away at the time.

Tenacity and resilience tend to pay off however, and good things come to those who venture. We climbed up the rocks near to Stockholm University and found a delightful vantage point to see the sunset from and relax.

This is a photo from Nov 2013 taken with my Canon 550D & Sigma 10-20 lens. F22 (no ND filter so forced up to get long exposure) , ISO 100, speed, Anstey's Beach - Durban South Africa - can't see on EXIF but shot on AV (camera works out speed).

I originally posted this photo in 2013 but saw it again when cleaning my HD this morning. Nirun liked something about this photo so I did a version 2. Changes: 1. sharpen. 2. contrast. 3. darken.

Starling have stated to appear in abundance, the feeders in the garden are taking a real hammering. This one obviously prefers juicier morcels.

It’s just amazing -- the tenacity of life -- isn’t it?

Last days of November #2.

November 2009.

Hadn't planned to go out this morning, but needed to pop out for some milk, so I took the camera and stopped at my favourite tree on the way.

Jasper has learned that play urging tenacity will most often break his humans down. We can't NOT play, right? We had some Flickr friends from Italy visit on Saturday (Hi Adriano, Elisabetta e Ricardo) and Jasper dragged out about every toy he owns to entice them to play. Yes, his tenacity broke them down too. Dog tenacity may very well be the perfect human solvent :-)

Life puts its feet down everywhere.

Following the genuine and sincere concern expressed by one of my Flickr friends recently that we have no electricity or running water in Cornwall I felt I should allay his fear. Although we might not have these amenities and niceties, we make up for this with our ingenuity and tenacity. I am now at liberty to share some of this information with you as enough time has passed for it to be lifted from the constraints of the official secrets act.

Many years ago about 9 of us were gathered in The Golden Lion (Code Name “The Office”)

when suddenly Tristram Trevithick burst through the door saying he had just taken a call at the phone box in the village and that it had been Red Adair saying that a Sheikh had an oil well on fire, but Red himself was busy wallpapering the hallway ceiling and wondered if we boys could take the job on for him, and he would pay us a million pounds.

Tristram said we would carry the job out but would need transport from Cardinham Airfield to the location of the fire in the desert.

So I borrowed brother’s long wheel base Land Rover loaded up a few tools and off we all went via Trago Mills to collect some hob nail boots.

The C130 plane collected us and we embarked on our mission into the unknown, several hours later we were over the burning well and ready to go, the Pilot came back and said boys, I am not going to be able to land near the site, so what about if I lower the rear cargo door of the aircraft, fly as low as possible and you chaps roar out.

So this is exactly what we did, we lined the old Land Rover up and straight across the desert right into the middle of the burning oil well.

With no time to waste the boys were out jumping up and down in the fire and after about an hour we had stamped the flames out. Everyone looked a bit dazed and smoke damaged but mission accomplished.

Not long and the Sheikh who owned the well turned up sincerely congratulating us on an amazing job saying he had never seen anything like this before.

Now boys there is your million pounds what are you going to do with the money, Tristram steps forward and said, “get the brakes fixed on the Land Rover”.

Thank you for looking, your faves and comments are always much appreciated.

It's February. Someone forgot to tell this Oak leaf it should have fallen several months ago...

The places that trees can (and do) grow in the Southwest amazes me. This one was found perched between rocks in Arches National Park.
