I have posted two photos of this scene in sequence ... this one ... a telephoto capture at 200mm and the other at 62mm. It was, of course, not a devil moon at all but really quite beautiful .... poetic license and all that and any excuse to include a link to a Creedence Clearwater song. :)

Thanks to everyone for your visiting, favs & comments :).

I shot this with 200mm lens. because the hills were very far away. It is important for me to have telephoto lens for landscapes.

Taken with a Sigma 150-600mm telephoto lens along a pond.

I find dragonflies interesting so I tried to get a shot of this fellow before he took off.

Its not a perfect image as per say with a macro lens but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Hope you enjoy and thanks guys for visiting! :)

It was a clear day to be able to see Mount Baker (about 130 miles to the north)!

Just as I was preparing to shoot, a flock of Canadian geese passed by the moon. Of the hundreds of frames captured, only one captured them as the glided by.

Waldo Canyon Fire Burn Scar as the Rocky Mountains glow red/orange from the morning sunrise

Colorado Springs, CO.

At 24 hours past its peak, I suppose this is no longer really a true "Supermoon", however it was a wonderful sight to watch as I started my day ...

Note: Having taken several photos shortly after moonrise the past couple of days, I also observed that the PoV changes between moonrise and moonset such that the moon appears to rotate more than 90 degrees during its travel across the sky. This explains why the orientation of the craters often appears so different between one moon photograph and another. :)

Captured from the observation deck of the new World Trade Center.

This photo of the Prenj mountain was taken from a distance of about 60 km from the object. The location from which the photo was taken is Mount Matokit in Croatia.

The Birds are really active on our Feeders during this Cold Spell............

Because the birds don’t always avail themselves to my lens I get bored and start photographing more compliant subjects 😂

Pictures of Lily -

In this case an Asiatic Lily.

This is about a 600mm telephoto photograph.

A copy of a photo a friend had on the wall. I think taken on a Shackleton expedition to the antarctic circle. I should stop thinking my camera is heavy :)

Have a good weekend!

Downy is a Maine Coon Cat. He is big but not heavy. And he is still very much a kitten, but aren't they all?

Telephoto!

"Tokyo Port Wild Bird Park" is a kind of sanctuary. A small natural area near Haneda airport, with a lake in the middle, is a place for visit of many kinds of birds.

Those of you with those huge lenses will probably find this to be a great spot.

I shot this one from an "observation spot" in the park, with my modest 70-300.

I was waiting for some birds in flight to try to shoot some action, and this one came strolling. A graceful stroll it was!

Of course it was far from filling the frame, but as they say, cropping is the poor man's zooming!

Hiking among mountains, hills, waterfalls, and rivers always reminds me of the magic of the world. It may not be quite the same magic as a fire wielding mage in epic fantasy, but it makes it easy to imagine that world of high magic.

November 14, 2016 Supermoon.

Closest supermoon since January 26, 1948. Taken from my backyard.

Just after I took this shot, I was watching this kookaburra intently for another minute or two as it sat on its favourite perch up a tree when suddenly its gaze locked onto to something off in the distance. It took off in a rush and flew a straight line to an open patch of grass about 100 metres away, grabbed up what turned out to be a large worm, and returned to the perch! I could not even see the worm at all until I got the long lens back on him again. Amazing eyesight!
