I watched this flock of pelicans across a bay in Horicon Marsh when they all rose together and flew over the cattails.
How did they coordinate that move? Nobody spooked them, They lifted off the water in surreal slow motion. It was a moment of graceful motion. Nature amazes me!
I had my Pentax telephoto at full extension; the pelicans were a long way off.

I have posted two photos of this scene in sequence ... this one ... a telephoto capture at 200mm and the other at 62mm. It was, of course, not a devil moon at all but really quite beautiful .... poetic license and all that and any excuse to include a link to a Creedence Clearwater song. :)

A sunrise worth sharing taken on Saturday morning with a telephoto lens at Torquay Beach in Victoria, Australia. The swell was large and colours vivid.

Taken with a Sigma 150-600mm telephoto lens along a pond.
I find dragonflies interesting so I tried to get a shot of this fellow before he took off.
Its not a perfect image as per say with a macro lens but I thought I'd share it anyway.
Hope you enjoy and thanks guys for visiting! :)

Sitting in Brighton Hub and ready to "jump", TR units on the head of no 34 log train sit patiently awaiting departure. The low lighting passing through the edge of clouds adds up to a dramatic scene at Hobart's freight terminal.

Some lovely mist just before sunrise.

The eyes of Tanner the rescued Pit Bull. He is afraid of many things like skateboards, harmonicas, ukuleles, maybe it’s the way I play them and he doesn’t like telephoto lenses. Had to bribe him with peanuts that I feed the squirrels to get him to sit for a few seconds and look into the lens.

Waldo Canyon Fire Burn Scar as the Rocky Mountains glow red/orange from the morning sunrise
Colorado Springs, CO.
At 24 hours past its peak, I suppose this is no longer really a true "Supermoon", however it was a wonderful sight to watch as I started my day ...
Note: Having taken several photos shortly after moonrise the past couple of days, I also observed that the PoV changes between moonrise and moonset such that the moon appears to rotate more than 90 degrees during its travel across the sky. This explains why the orientation of the craters often appears so different between one moon photograph and another. :)
This photo of the Prenj mountain was taken from a distance of about 60 km from the object. The location from which the photo was taken is Mount Matokit in Croatia.
Tenth and last image in my Bird Art series...
I end this long series with these iconic cranes shown in a wet field on an April day. They had migrated from the south and were looking for insects and food in the soggy ground.
Found in large numbers all across North America, the Sandhill cranes are very large in size, are very hardy, and have a rattling bugle call that can be heard over a two-mile distance!
Thank you, my Flickr friends, for all your views and comments covering this 10-image series :)

while documenting the most recent texas freeze, i decided to use a straight out of camera fuji recipe that i've been cooking up, trying to simulate 70s motion picture film with a moderately heavy color shift and high contrast. based on pro neg high.

Colorado Springs, CO - Pike's Peak doesn't look this way yet as temperatures in the area have not yet let go of summer. But our much cooler nighttime lows have me "waiting for snow" ...
